Has anyone hooked up an aftermarket bluetooth with the shaker 500 and wired it into the radio speakers? I have a Motorola kit that can play through the radio and mute when it does, but I''m not sure if it can be done with the 08 shaker 500.

I put a Motorola bluetooth kit in my '05s Shaker 500 using the Ford bluetooth add-on cable. I tried connecting it to the speaker connections on the Ford cable, even though the Motorola instructions were useless, but it didn't work. I contacted Motorola Technical Support and was told they would not help me figure out which wires were for the speakers since it is a proprietary system and could not give out such technical information. HUH? I ended up having to install the speaker under the dash. At least the mute function works.

Does the mute work through the bluetooth or are you hitting the mute on the radio?

The mute function works as advertised via the bluetooth module. I have the same Motorola unit in my Sport Trac, but I do have to use the radio mute button in it since the Ford (Pioneer) unit does not have a mute input.
