If I were to buy the Shaker 500 in dash unit Does it with the amp built in? or the 6 CD built in? THey sell them on Ebay I was just wondering if they came with the 6 CD and amp

The head is basically useless without the seperate Ford amps. Also, with past experience, don't count on it lasting more than a year anyway.

 

Get a stock system so you can replace it immediately. Shaker is not a complete P.O.S., but if you are an audiophile, it will disappoint you. I installed a Pioneer in dash DVD and Rockford Fosate amp (for the subs). I will say the subs are decent quality. They sound good with the amp, however, I would rather have gotten the standard system and done all aftermarket later...Oh well, live and learn. Hope it hels you out.

 

If you're not an audiophile, the Shaker 500 replacement is a good deal. I did this exact changeover and am really pleased with the results. I don't think the Shaker contains an amp but it does handle 6 CDs and MP3s. I found that the sound quality with plain stock speakers was much, much better.
