Is the Shaker 1000 worth it?
hey all,
getting a new GT/CS in the next month or two and pondering whether a Shaker 1000 is worth it, or if I am better off going aftermarket. I like to pump up the rock tunes.
Opinions?

My Two Cents: The GT/CS comes with the wonderful 500 unit. Agree that you test your very favorite CD in a Dealer Stang with the 500! You might be surprized just how very good it is going to sound! If you need some more, than maybe the 1000 will be right for you? But also remember that the 1000 will eat up both your trunk space and a bunch of your precious hard earned bucks. For my money, save the bucks for the go fast goodies!
i have the 1000 and i am a big aftermarked stereo guru.....
lets put it this way, im not gonna replace it.
i had a kicker cvr dual 2 ohm voice coil sub being pushed by 2 800 watt amps (class d, 2 ohm stable) and the shaker 1000 sounds just as good, or at least good enough that i dont feel the need to replace it
plus the 6 disc in dash mp3 will keep me listening to a variety for like 4 days straight!!!

I bought my car with the Shaker 1000, and I wasn't too pleased with it. It sounds fine, but the head unit is boring and the speakers are not the greatest quality. It's certainly better than most stock systems, but its way to expensive.
I replaced the head unit after one year of having the car, and I couldn't believe the difference in the sound, even using the same stock speakers.
Again, its not a bad system, its just over priced. Put the $1200 towards an after market system and you'll be much happier.

The 1000's that I have heard are most excellent. I like a good car stereo system, and while it wont match the right aftermarket setup from Sony/Kenwood, it is still very good from the factory.
I got my shaker 1000 for $500 due to the way the car buying turned out. I LOVE IT. I'ts bass can be surprisingly loud if you want it too and also the whole system is VERY LOUD if you turn the dial all the way up. I tried out a shaker 500 once and it was nice but if you turned it all the way up the quality wasnt very good and it wasnt as loud. Thats basically the difference. The 500 strains for good quality and loudness were the 1000 can do it no problem.
500 - basically no bass that you can feel. bass you can hear.
1000 - bass you can feel.
aftermarket - same bass for alot less money, or a ridiculous amount of bass for the same price.
if you are intimidated by the prospect of installing an aftermarket system, then just get the 1000 - you will probably be satisfied. but aftermarket is the way to go for sound quality, volume/loudness, and price.
