I'm glad you brought that up, since that will probably be the first "mod" I do to my Mustang once I take her home. I'm hooked on XM, both in the car and at home, so I hope someone out there can offer suggestions about where to place the antenna.

Regardless of what you've heard or what you may hear, the antenna works fine INSIDE the car. I've got a buddy that drives a Beetle and he's got the antenna mounted near the front of the dash, by the windshield and his reception is just fine. The rep at the electronics store said it should be placed somewhere on the outside. Don't know why... does it matter?

I have the Terk XM adapter with my Sony head unit. I put the adapter unit and the XM receiver on the driver side of the center console where the radio and a/c controls are. Its a snug fit, but it works. I ran the antenna to the back an centered it on the back shelf right by the seats. It works like a charm.

I second that comment about the antenna working inside the car.
I have mine at the front left edge of my dashboard, and the XM comes in crystal clear.

XM Rocks! once you go XM you will never go back!

There was a post with pictures of an XM system installed in an 05. If I can find it, I'll put a link. I looked nice

I'm going with SIRIUS, have it in my 2 Jeeps and in the house, love it. Once you go with Satellite, you won't go back!

I have an XM My-fi in my V6, using the car antenna I just tucked it under the console, ran it back across the hump to the rear seats, ran it around underneath the rear seats and into the trunk, and just stuck it with emblem tape to the front edge of the trunk so all you see is a little 1x1.5" square on the trunk lid. For now it resides in my cupholder but I'm making a mount to come out from the blank din slot and mount the myfi pivot mount to. I tried the vent mount and that was a piece of crap.

I love my XM, I scrolled through the channels at best buy and didn't have a preference between the two, so I chose XM because they have NASCAR, which means I can listen to the race the whole way down the road between home and school on the weekends.

Mine's similar to KenP's, except I just used the magnetized mini antenna on the trunk lid. Pics of my system (including the XM antenna) are in the link in my signature.

I'll be getting Sirius for NBA & NFL games... Too bad Ford didn't offer it as an option with the car itself. Ohwell.

I love XM. Now, I get my Fox News Alerts anywhere I go. I use the Roady because of the built in FM modulator, size of the unit and I can use it in any vehicle I want (with the extra antenna's I purchased).

It would be icing on the cake if the XM/Sirius merger was to go through!

I hear the negotiations have stopped.

besides that would be a monopoly! There needs to be competetition to keep the prices competetive. the more choices the consumer has the cheaper the price.

I considered Sirius too; it was more expensive so I went with XM. I'm a cheapskate. Will Stern come to XM too? Always room for one more channel!

In order to place the ROADY2 in front of the map lights like this is going to require some fancy wiring, isn't it? Given that the map lights are 12v and the ROADY2 wants 6v, this would mean that a permanent installation would require a DC-DC conversion that reduced the voltage accordingly. I looked online and the only permanent installation kits I saw had short leads on the XM side.

That install looks like it would really mess with your shifting. Are you running an auto or stick? If stick, how long did it take to get used to having that in the way?

I have attached the Roady to the included mount and it sits nicely in the front cupholder. It does not get in the way of shifting and it is easy to use.
