The original head rests are pointed in to much. I tried to remove these but they seem to be non-removeable. I would like to find some that don't tilt inward so much. Anyone else hate these.

Man, the headrests are one of the reasons why I love my car! I can actually use the headrest without having to look at the head liner of my car.

On a side note, all new cars will have headrests like this in the near future. The angle is a new safety standard that all manufactures will have to abide by.

When I first got the car, I hated them too...
They seemed to hit my head in the wrong place. I raised them about 2 notches.
I must be use to them now, because they aren't bothering me anymore...

I heard that too. And it made me wonder; Why would a regulation require your head to be pushed forward. It makes me look down. I have found that if I pull the headrest all the way up (so my head is at the bottom of the rest) it does not push it down as far.

Try reclining the seat a little more and moving it forward...it should hit the back of your head while you are looking directly forward...

...mine does anyway...

WIPLASH & crash worthyness

this is the reason for the design, if designed corectly they should be part of a complete system, the seat backs themselfs are very important upon impact, Ford has problems in past with the backs colapsing to the recline position causing severe injury

your head should be as close as possible and directly inline with the headrest when your are seated

no. i'm not a Nader head or anything, just dont like unnessasary pain!

I'm in agreement that they appear to be pitched too far forward. After a month, I've decided that looks are deceiving in this case. This is the first vehicle I've ever owned that I could actually use the headrests.

I like them.

That was my solution. But I don't like to lean back to far.

However, I am sure it is not what Ford wants you to do. I have heard from people that have gotten in accidents and had back problems. The doctor has told them if there seat is reclined to far, it casues more injuires. I have no experience with this (thank God).

Thank you! Mywife's Honda has standard (old) style headrests. They are great when you are in a parking lot, napping while your wife is shopping.

Otherwise, when it's nap time in my Stang, the seat simply goes all the way back!!!
