Radio Install 2008 - Pioneer Avic-D3x
Radio Install 2008 - Pioneer Avic-D3x
I am installing an Pioneer Avic-D3x I bought from Cruchfield in my 2008 Mustang GT.
I went by the wiring diagram they provided but I need to find a 12V accessory power lead that is wired to the ignition to turn the radio on which is different for the 2008 then the previous years.
The 12V switched power lead is not on the 2008 radio plug in.
If anyone has any ideas or has run into something similar I would be greatful for any help.
Thanks in advance.

There has to be a 12v switched lead running to the factory radio within the factory harness, or else the unit would only operate on full time battery power and therefore would work no matter if the key was on or not.... Unless they're using a < 12v signal to turn the factory unit on?
I think it is just a 12V signal going to the factory radio.
I had crutchfield send me the 2005/2006 Ford wiring diagram for the radio plug in and where the 12V accessories is on it there is no wire going to it on the 2008.
Any other ideas are most welcome.

You could always ask to see the wiring diagram at your dealership. Of course it depends on your relationship with them and how cooperative they are. I love my dealerships service department. They let me research wiring for all my vehicles when I am doing a mod.
Call crutchfield. They have a lot more detailed information than what they send you. But I can almost assure you that there's a 12v switched power coming in, unless they just changed it for 2008. With these types of harnesses, you basically just connect all the matching wires by color.
You can also try the AVIC411 forums.

There only two gotchyas on a S197 Mustang are:
1) 5V regulator need to stop the sub-pop
2) 2007+ cars need an antenna adapter ...
My Mustang is a Canadian model if that does make a difference.
The Ford wiring harnass does not have the accessories pin or wire to turn radio on are not in the harnass. So I used the number 6 fuse on the passenger side kick pannel, which is called accessory delay feed. Using an Add-a-Circut made by Littelfuse (www.littelfuse.com) which allowed me to have the radio come on with the accessories and still turn off when the the key is in the off position when you open the door.
Thanks everyone for your info and help.
