Hey guys, I have decided that it is time to tint my mustang. I am pretty sure I want to go with a limo 5% tint on the back and 1/4 windows, and 35% on the doors, and yes, I know thats illegal in CA.

I have never had a car tinted before, and I have no clue what I should be looking for. I have read a lit of posts on here, and seen a lot of pix, and thats how I picked how dark I want it (i may change my mind when i go to the shop...) but what should I look for as far as guarentees, method of install, warrenty, brand of tint, etc.

Also, I have read about getting felt for the doors.... exactly what am I asking for when I tell the guy about this?

and if anybody has anything else I should, know, please post. I plan on taking it to a few shops monday morning for estimates.

Thanks!

5% looks too dark on Torch Red IMO. Some Torch Red cars w/ 5% all around make it look like the windows were painted black... not my style. Here's my Torch GT w/ 15% on the rears and 30% on the fronts. It's perfect for me, and with that difference it doesn't look like I 'forgot' to tint the fronts. Good luck in the PRC
Hope that helps, my brand is Sun-Tek - lifetime warranty.

oh really.... I had saved pix of your car, because I REALLY liked the way the tint looked... some of the torch reds were too dark and very ugly... but I wrote down that you had 5% on the back... oppz.

hey Jordan sounds like your on the right track. Things to keep in mind is the warrenty they offer on the tint. As far as the felt piece goes I told the guy that tinted my windows about all the people having problems with scratches and such. So far I have had my windows tinted now for a month and a half and no problems. But just make them aware that way if you do get scratches on your tint and they dont put a felt strip in its in their court. Also if they havent tinted an 05 stang yet they may not be aware yet of the windows going up and down when the door is opened.
here are some pics of my stang with 20% tint all the way around I also did the front strip on my windshield and it turned out fine even with the dot matrix in case you were thinking on getting it.

Thanks for the pic. I think it is a subtle touch that looks great. In my opinion, you can never have too much black on a car. Like Jordan said......thats the best looking black GT I have seen.

Emperor,

What part of CA do you live in? Are you in a coastal area? I had a Civic with a similar tint set-up. When I moved back to CA, I had a real difficult time seeing out of the back on overcast, low light days.

Seriously consider the amount of sunshine you get where you live before you go that dark.

My car at the time was red, and I thought it looked great. My shop used 3M tint, and it was very high quality. If you come across a shop that uses 3M stuff, I recommend it.

I got two estimates...... one for $180, they had Lumar tint, lifetime warrenty, and the other one was $185 with 3M tint, lifetime warrenty, but neither place had heard of putting felt strips in, and they both not to worry about it, and when I asked if they could put one in if I wanted, they said they wouldnt know how to do it. wtf?

It looks like you guys that have pics on here have done a great job with your tint. Thinking about doing mine as well. Any one have any suggestions on tinting a legend lime?
