question about double din setup

i already have an alpine 9855 ead unit installed in the car, and in order to save a few bucks I wanted to a add single din flip out to kinda create a double din look instead of spending too much on a new double din head unit. Do I need a new dash kit or anything. Heres a pic of what I have already:

You'll need a new kit. That Scoshe kit doesn't allow for full use of the DD opening. Get the Metra kit and you'll be fine. I'm using 2 DIN units in mine. The kit is also for the 2004+ F150's and Circuit City will have it if you want it quick. Otherwise, and online retailer should carry it (Crutchfield for sure).

The OmniFi controller unit was a PITA to install, but that's because it didn't have normal mounting brackets. BTW, the OmniFi sucks. It works, but it's buggy as all hell, and the sound quality blows. As you can see I'm real happy with it The Panasonic deck, on the other hand, works fantastic, and I only paid $175 new at Crutchfield. I'm going with a DDIN unit as soon as funds permit. The kit from Crutchfield (Metra branded) allows for 2 DIN units or a Double.

It's an MP3 player. Made by Rockford Fosgate, it came with a 20GB hard drive, and I modded it with an 80GB. It's very similar to the Kenwood Keg or the MP3Car. Unfortunately, I've realized just how much I despise compressed music. WHen I redo my stuff, I'll have a head unit that can read .WAV or .CDA directly from a USB attached drive. Several can do so. Then I get one of the 750 BG or larger drives, an enclosure, and a simple little DC>DC power supply and voila.

Bill, be VERY careful with the electrical connector on the rear of the radio bezel. The one on the left is a normal plug that just has a little clip that holds it on. The one on the right (controls all the climate controls) has a lever that cam-locks it tight. That lever is VERY easily broken. Trust me

Yes....play close attention to that connector....I wrote about it in my install docs.....it's a little tricky to get apart.
