question about door sub and aftermarket NAV
I installed my AVIC-D1 NAV system a while back and it always bothered me that the door subs have never worked since
is this normal?? is it that the factory amps dont get wired to the amps or something?

1) Buy this wiring harness if you haven't already: $20
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-VGsZFD4...px?I=120705521
2) Plug ONE of the RCA's into your subwoofer output of your AVIC-D1. Which one - I don't know, try each. One RCA is for your front door subs. The other is for your shaker 1000 trunk subs, whether you have them or not.
3) Connect both purple wires on the harness together. Connect that to a switched 12V power source. An easy thing to do is to tap into the red V_acc wire on your big harness. This is your remote-power-on-lead.
4) When you get sick of hearing the door speakers pop every time you turn your system on, buy this voltage regulator: $1.59 http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search
5) Now disconnet the purple wires from your red V_acc wire. Solder your purple wires to the 5V output of the 7805 voltage regulator.
6) Connect the power pin of the 7805 voltage regulator to the YELLOW wire on the big wiring harness, this is a constant 12V source. (You will want to tap into it)
7) Connect the ground pin of the 7805 to the BLACK wire on the big wiring harness, this is ground. (Tap into it.. don't disconnect your HU, of course)
There are your door subs.

No. Why do you have both rca's (4 wires) going to the trunk, assuming you only have one sub in the trunk? One rca is meant for mono bass/sub in the trunk, one rca is meant for mono bass/sub in the front doors. The mono signal is split to the two door amps.
You should only have one RCA going into the alpine sub amp, even if the amp can accept two inputs..

red jack = 1 output, white jack = 1 output. each jack is two wires.
what i'm saying is, use ONE jack (arbitrarily, say the red one), for your front subs, and use the OTHER jack (arbitrarily, say the white one), for your rear subs.
