Looks cool... BUT I wouldn't buy one for one simple reason... the volume ****!

Or should I say the LACK of a volume ****.

I have the D1 and it has a fairly big rocker switch for the volume. I wish it has a rotary **** though... but these volume buttons are TIIIIINY!

Sometimes I wonder if they do research on the actual usability of a product like this, in a car, before they design it or at least while they design it.

OMG I thought I was the only one...the whole lack of a real volume **** on aftermarket stereos totally drives me nuts. I've been considering one of these double din fixed screen nav systems, but it's quirky things like this that I know will drive me nuts.

i too wonder if they do any research on the actualy real world functionality of products...

I believe it is also supposed to have the bluetooth ability built into it.

Yeah, the AVIC-Z1 sounds cool but I may have a hard time convincing myself to plunk down $2,250 for it.

Cheers,
Jon

I'am confused the above picture shows a flat screen in a double din chassis, but if you go to Pioneers web site they show a motorized screen with real ***** at the bottom for the new Z1 ?

I think I heard the c/net guy say you can't download mp3s onto the unit from a burned cd? Anybody else catch that?

Why pay over $2,000 when you can build a car computer for half the price with twice the computing power and 3 times the hard drive storage?

Well I can understand someone wanting a plug and play solution.

With a computer you'd have to be more technically inclined and have a bit more to setup for nav abilities etc.

But again, for me, the lack of volume **** and ther VERY tiny volume buttons would count me out.

FYI for those that want a good price on this unit. Go to etronics.com. They just lowered the price again to a measly $1589.00 !! I wish I could afford this unit right now, but the house comes first.

i do not like it for the simple reason that he said you can not Rip a burned CD to the system and how the HD is a 30G and 20G of that is just for Nav the rest is yours...to me not enough room after a while...i am ok cause i know it will have a remote and i am ok with that but to me it is not worth it...now someone direct me to the Car Computer LOL
