P.I.E. and Sirius
ok i know alot of people are using the PIE adapter for their MP3 players and some for use with their satallite radio, well i have been looking and i know the 2007 mustangs have the AUX for BOTH sirius and an MP3 player but i wanted to know since i have a 2006 model, if i install the factory sirius radio will i still be able to use the PIE adapter by pressing the AUX button again or should i just choose one or the other

ok here is my new question, i am thinking about doing the sirius install but i want to have my Zune plugged into, can i switch over to an '07 and have the Sirius factory unit with the Zune?

Zune is Mircosoft's version of an IPod. I have a Zune and it is great....since it's made by Microsoft, it syncs up with Windows and the media on your computer very easily and works great.

Be cautious. I have an 07 and installed a PIE this weekend. After trying to get it to recognize the PIE aux port, tech support said their is a known problem in the 07 applications that will hopefully be fixed ( I'm sure with firmware ) within a couple of months.
Everytime the PIE loses communication with the head unit, you have to tear everything out, unplug the PIE from the factory harness, and reinstall in reverse order. The old "remove the neg bat terminal for two minutes" trick does not work on the 07's. Frankly, I am getting tired of ripping my interior out (and I have only had it installed four days).
What I can say positive is that, when the unit is working, you can switch from the PIE to the factory aux port via the head unit's aux button. I have my Inno plugged into the PIE and my iPod into the factory aux port.
Good luck.

that is why i am putting it on a switched source so basiclly i will be reseting it everytime i turn on my car, but i really want to have the factory sirius and the aux for my Zune, or could i just use a splitter and have it for both the zune and the aftermarket sirius

I received a new chip from PIE on 5/13 and am verifying it's operation on my 07. So far, so good. It seems to have taken care of the heavy battery drain (it was not turning itself off) and the handshake loss with the head unit.
As far as your 06, I would connect to constant source and yes, you can run a split patch cord. Just make sure you only have one accessory on at one time (you know what I mean). You will have to experiment with your Zune to equalize the volume through the PIE port. What I mean is, most Sirius and XM plug-n-play units have very low line level output since they where designed as a "cassette adapter port". You will have to crank up the line level on you Sirius or XM and adjust the pot adjuster on the PIE to equalize the volume compared to regular radio and cd player on your stock head unit. Then plug in and turn down the volume on your Zune to equalize the same volume. You should then be good to go.
Hope this helps.
