So I've been looking around for a good deal on some subs. And I found one. A kicker l7 15" sub for $150. 1000 watts rms and 2000 peak. Awesome sub. My problem was how to mount it in the car. The trunk openings are far too small to fit a box of any decent size. So I'm building one inside the trunk.

I'll attach some pics and keep this thread updated as I finish the box. The box should come out to around 6 cubic feet ported.

Why don't you build it in the pass through facing forward. You'll have the whole trunk as your sub woofer box and still have trunk space on the rare occasion you need it. You can fold the seat down to see the driver and up hides it. I did a pair of subs like that years ago in a M3 worked great. I hung the amps on the baffle inside the trunk and the magnets stuck out between them.

The subwoofer is a 15" and that hole is only 11" tall.

Sorry to have been away so long, I've been caught up in school.

Update on this project...the sub blew. I was pretty ticked but I decided I'd just move on to something more reliable. Apparently kicker square subs blow a lot. Ive taken the stock shaker 1000 subs and put them in a sealed truck box with more airspace and they hit pretty decent now.

For real bass I have an re audio sxx 10 running off of a hifonics 1500d at 1000 watts rms! (it beats harder than the l7 and takes up 1/5 of the trunk space.)

Also installed infinity reference 6x8s all around amped by a jl audio 320.4. The only thing I have left are the door subs, probably going to get the pioneer shallow mounts.

I'll try to get some pics this afternoon. It's nowhere near a complete project and it's kinda sloppy. Hope to clean it up soon.
