Is it common for the seals of the window to scratch tinting?

Hey guys... I just bought some felt... found a link on one of the other threads... I bought a roll for $10, including shipping and it works great.
It's not moleskin.... I tried for weeks to find that and got nowhere.. but this felt is very similar.... much better than the soft side of velcro. just click the link and choose your width...

I'd be interested in seeing how different it is from Durofelt. They say they have a stronger, more heat resistent adhesive. If it looks good when you get it, I might have to get some too, even though I already have 25' of durofelt.

Oh , so you like our plug.

I got it , installed and works great.

Wish I`d found ya 2 weeks earlier tho , I`d saved 2 scratches.

And in all honesty , I say the scraper is plastic , not rubber like it should be.

The MoleSkin Really works, James was great to work with, he Shipped mine overnight so I could get it on my car after the windows were re tinted due to scratches. They were very easy to install also (after finding that hidden Torx 30 behing the door lever plate on the 07s. So far no scratches. The stuff was worth the price.

scratches and...

I lived with my tints being scratched for over a year. I finally decided to try the "fix" using the soft side of velcro. Super easy install and seemed to be working great for a couple weeks. Now that the weather is hotter than heck here in the northeast, I noticed the adhesive has started to melt a little. I found out the hard way last night that it had melted more than a little. I put both windows down to air it out as I was leaving work and the driver side window pulled about half of the inner seal down into the door with it. I immediately put the window back up but it was too late. The velcro had come off and smeared adhesive all over the inside of the window .
Anyone else had this problem? Does the durofelt or moleskin have a better adhesive or is this going to continue? I don't park in the sun especially since my car is black. Frustrating!

I haven't had that problem yet... and I have Durofelt. I don't park in the sun either, but when I get home and park in the garage, the engine is so nice to heat up the garage for me to a balmy 110 degrees so that I don't freeze my nuts off when I leave again in a half hour to go the grocery store or whatever.. I had streaks on the inside of the driver window from something... don't know what it was, but it wiped right off.. haven't seen them back. Nothing like that on the passenger side. the felt hasn't shifted one bit, though.... and I usually only run the AC when the wife is in the car, so the windows are constantly going up and down. (I can suck it up for a few extra horse power)

Can someone explain this in more detail for us? What is the Door lever plate?

Also does the 06 have this same screw?

Yes.. right behind the handle on the door pannel (not the lever to open the door, but in the center) there is a panel that you have to take a flat screw driver and pry it out. It comes out pretty easy. I'll see if I can put up a pic for you.

pic is gonna have to wait... so if anyone else can get it done quicker.... feel free.

Pics of the bolt I was talkin about, after you remove this one & all the ones arount the door panel, you can then lift & pull the top of the door panel away to remove the wiper channel assy.

Indy,

Thank you VERY much for the pictures. I checked the Door Panel removal and installation diagram I include in the kit and it shows the bolt behind the door panel as shown above.

I will make sure it is clear in the main instructions before you come to the diagram.

Thanks again for taking the time!

I plan on ordering some moleskin as well but I don't even have my car yet! I'll wait a couple of weeks for the 2007 instructions to get updated.
