MP3 & The Shaker
So I am prepping for the day I get my car. Want to burn my collection of music to a couple of CD's and just listen instead of shuffling a ton in and out of the player.
So I have a collection of MP3 and WMA files. I have Nero and Media Player but Nero does not like WMA and wont convert/burn them to a CD. Media player is fussing about the disc size.
I find software that will burn the mp3's but having trouble finding on that will convert the WMA's to a MP3 and then burn.
Any suggestions appreciated.

If they are protected WMAs (like the ones downloaded from Napster, Virgin, etc.), then you don't have many options for conversion. Muvaudio is a good piece of software for conversion. It's not freeware though, I think it's like $20. Once you do start burning MP3s, burn the discs at the next slowest speed than max on your cd burner. I found this is the best way for smooth playback. I had the shaker 1000 for about 2 weeks in my car and never had it skip or have issues playing mp3s.
Microsoft/WMA :notnice:
Gotta go with Apple, man. iTunes will do the job and convert the files from WMA to MP3 no problem (as long as they're not protected) and burn 'em on CD.
EDIT: iTunes is free and works for anybody, not just iPod owners

Easiest way in Windows. . . no software required.
Burn your protected files to CD in music CD format.
Rip the CD you just burned using Windows Media Player, just set the preferences to MP3 for rips instead of WMA(Tools->Options).
You now have unprotected MP3 files. Windows XP (for example) has the capability to burn files to a CD without any other software. Just burn your MP3 files to a data disk and you're done!
Roxio software also works well.
If you're hardcore, get Sony Sound Forge (or an older Sonic Foundry copy if you can find it). It will not open your protected files - you'll still need to burn them to a music CD to clear that - but it is a great software package for working on audio and customizing music tracks.
