I don't like the feel of the rubber shift **** that comes with the non-IUP GT, so I replaced it with a chrome ball.

Are you serious? can anyone second that? I was hoping to use my MGW ****.

I like the manual shift **** compared to my '00GT - much more Euro in style and the shift throw is much shorter and somewhat more precise. What I don't like is the cheap painted look of the **** - I would like to find the same **** in billet - even with the black sides and shift pattern on top - just the billet would match the IUP better and would look much more quality.
Anybody feel the need for a "show throw" shifter like the Steeda Tri-Ax that I had on my '00GT - was a great improvement.
By the way - that Focus interior is much nicer looking than I would have expected for the price range the car is in.....is that a Euro only interior?

I have a Mach 1 billet ball waiting for when the car gets here. From the looks of this thread I guess I'll have to buy an aftermarket shifter too. Oh well, the stock one looks really cheap to me. Whatever I gotta do to change that...

Just wanted you guys to know........ Any shift **** made for the Mustang (Pre 2005 ) will not fit. The 2005 has a different thread pattern.
( I don't want you guys to waste any money. )

I personally like a taller shift handle with a ball **** on top, so I installed the triax and put their aluminum rubber grip **** on top...

just incase anyone dident know,
-the momo & most quaility aftermarket ***** use up to three allen head set screws to hold them very secure in any position
-also they have plastic inserts for different size shafts/thread o/d
-tip for removing old **** if to tight (havent tried this on the 05 yet) use a small strap wrench, this is a plastic and rubber wrench avail at most places that sell tools. just make sure the **** is threaded an and not part of shaft
