On the 2005 with IUP, there is a system check feature. By pushing the buttons it goes through and test certain things....oil pressure OK Gas cap OK Anti Lock Brakes OK etc. So I ran it through the test. With the car off the oil pressure is OK. With the car running or off the gas cap is OK. I am begining to think this feature is not hooked to anything or that the only answer it has is OK. What is it really testing? Any info on this would be helpful.

It's checking the sensors that monitor all the items it lists. Try taking off your gas cap and running it.

The instrument cluster is linked to the pcm over the car's electronics network. The cluster has a module inside it. When the engine is off it should read "low oil pressure". If it doesn't do that, there might be something wrong with it.

with engine off, it reads oil pressure OK. with engine off or running and gas cap off it says gas cap OK. If any of you guys have the IUP, please give me the results of the same test. I have checked 1 other car and it does just like mine. I think that it says OK to everything???????

come on guys, check your cars to tell me if they "work" the same way, before I go back to the Ford dealer and tell him it is broke. I have checked one other, but it does work like mine. OK is the only thing it will say.
