itunes and the shaker
OK, Long story short i burned over 500 cd's to my computer using itunes and sent the cd's to the troops. So every time i say convert to mp3 so i can burn them, it duplicates the song one in aac, the other in mp3. and it places them right next to each other and i can not seperate them accept one by one. Well, i have over 6000 original songs and don't want to double the library in size, do anyone know of a way to simplify this?
I appreciate any assistance you may be able to offer. Oh yeah, I have the good musicmatch program if that helps, plus of course windows media 10.
Thanks,
David

Dave,
In ITunes, pull up your library. Now go to Edit then View Options. Check the "Kind" block and close that window. Now you will see the Kind column has been added. Click on the word Kind and it will sort them for you. Is that what you were looking to do?

Dave,
Im pretty sure if you ripped them to your computer using iTunes it encodes them in m4a format. Its a format made specifically for iTunes, and even it cant burn using it. As such, it has to convert them back to mp3 to burn them. For some reason it doesnt cache them into memory or even into a temp file, but just writes them back to the drive. My only suggestion is to get a file convertor, try google and if you dont have success let me know, then delete the original file iTunes encoded. If iTunes wont burn these new files use WMP or get a copy of Nero.

Drew, Kind of...at least that makes them easier to sort. I just wish the stupid shaker wasn't so quirky and i could use itunes. Also, I wish that when i told itunes to convert, it replaced the file, didn't make a duplicate in the new format.
iTunes can rip into MP3, ACC, or AIFF format. You can choose which format you prefer in the Preferences under the Importing tab. Once you've set that, you can highlight all of your AAC tracks, right click, and select Convert Selection to MP3. After that, you can burn them to CDs for use in the Shaker 500 IF it can play MP3 CDs.
Enjoy yo' selves.

Is it true that songs you purchase and download from ITunes are in a protected format and cannot be converted to MP3? That is the impression I have from reading the help section and trying to figure out how to do it. Anyone know?
Yes hellcat, None of the 100$ worth of music i have purchased through itunes can be converted to mp3..you can burn them to cd audio, but they can not be ripped to mp3 or converted..
Carter, the only problem is i double the size of the library i have and i wish i would've known i was going to do this when i bought an ipod vs. a dell mp3.
