Interior Swap Manual 14' to 07

Hi, recently I swapped in a 2014 center console into my 07 mustang. Problem is, the manual shifter now is hitting the side of the shift bezel when shifting into first. Is it okay for me to grind away at the stalk that connects the gears to the shift ****? Or any other ideas?

BTW: A huge thanks to VGMStudios, he inspired me to do this and also helped me with the wiring earlier.

Personally, I would clear the bezel before taking anything off the shifter.

I tried that, the only way would be to stick the center console really far up that it does not allign with the 07s radio anymore, but that is a possible fall back plan.

Yeah i would try cutting some off the bezel before I cut anything of the shifter; though I'm sure a little bit would be OK

Would you happen to have a picture of what the issue is?

Here it is. It strikes the bezel when shifting to first.

Acquire an aftermarket shifter, which will not have that big ol' hunk of metal on it, and that'll solve that problem. Still will be a lil' close, but it should work better.

Not sure you could shave off and still have a good shifter, but hey... it's your shifter, do what you will.

if he shaves it down and ruins it, he'd have to buy a new shifter anyway. So why not?

Well, it would be worth the shot if I had tons of cash. I think I'll run without the bezel for the time being and shift boot. My aim is a future coyote swap with a better shifter, that was why I didn't wanna cut away at the center console anymore
