Installing door sub into Non-Shaker door panel?

Hey folks,

I'm swapping my '05 GT's interior from tan to black and so far the only black (charcoal) door panels I have found don't have the Shaker 500 door subs. Is it possible to retrofit the door speaker into a non-Shaker door panel?

Thanks in advance,

Kris

you could do it but it would take a lot of fab work. It would be easier to color the tan panel

Thanks for the responses. Is it possible to install a non-shaker sub into a non-shaker door panel? Something aftermarket? Or would it still require some fab work? I'm nervous about coloring a tan panel as it might not match.

EDIT: Deric, great LED swap writeup BTW. Where are you located? I'm looking to do it on my car, but I'm a bit too much of an electrical noob to do it myself lol.

If you don't want to color the tan ones I would just wait until you get a set of black ones. I see there are two seperate auctions for the R/L side with vinyl (IUP) on ebay. You might also check car-part.com.

On the LED swap I've heard you can buy the 2010 door/window switches and save some time if you are going to swap to blue. I'm in the twin cities but I generally don't perform the swap for other people because if I damaged your setup I would have to buy a new set.
