Installing door sill emblems? have questions

I ordered from mustang tuning the door sill decals that fit inside of the set back MUSTANG letters. I know when you install decals/stripes on your paint job, you need to wet it with soapy water mixture to allow for tweeking of the decals into position.

When I install these, do I need to do that, so I won't mess up the proper position.

Thanks

I got mine from Bob White Decals and installed them dry, with the help of a pair of tweezers.
Brad's wife installed theirs wet: https://themustangsource.com/tungste...-0922doorsill/ .

Either way, take your time and everything's gonna be fine.

I originally installed mine by simply pulling them off the paper and sticking them on. It didn't work so well. They are extremely sticky, easy to tear, and hard to place correctly due to the shapes. I finally ordered another set and used the soapy water method. Much easier and better results! I sprayed the soapy mixture on the sill and the back of the decal then used tweezers and a wooden grilling skewer to get them to lay in the recesses just right, and then pressed the water out with a paper towel. The skewer is great for getting the edges pressed down, especially in the corners. Now they look great!

Agree with Parrothead...Do not apply them dry...you may regret it. If they are the vinyl type, use a spray bottle with soap and water. Pull the vinyl stripe/letter off the paper and spray it. This will allow you to slide it around until you get it where you want it. Have a paper towel to work the water out from underneath. You can also use a hair drier at the same time to evaporate the water. It will also heat up the vinyl and it will stretch to the sides of the sills or length of the stripes. These were pretty much the directions that came with mine from nino sports and it worked great...

yes i did them with a dish of soapy water and it did the job. you align them up properly while wet and then take a towel and start "dabbing" them dry. get them as dry as you can get them without moving the letter and let them sit. you should be fine

I don't know where the thread is, but yes, I do remember someone painting the letters by hand.
