Install Stereo question

I was wanting to install an aftermarket stereo myself. I was wondering if it was worth doing myself. I think it would be worth doing just to learn how it works. Also what kind of mounting kit should I get for the stereo? I was looking at my local best buy for mounting kits, and I couldn't find one for the 05-06 mustang. Anyone know what I should be looking for and where I can find one?

It's the same kit as the 2004+ F150. I think it's Metra fd140
