I've got the same "Aux" button on my '04 F150 stereo (which looks exactly the same as the Shaker but doesn't play MP3's).

However, there is no aux input jack! Kinda weird to have it there with no use, but it's even stranger to see that it's still there on the Mustang Shaker. With folks talking about using an FM transmitter to use their portable MP3 Player, I have to assume that there's no way to use the Aux button on the Shaker system either.

What the heck?

Someone will figure it out eventually...my money is on pac, they have adapters for everything. Does the cellphone prep harness not use this port? It's only a matter of time before someone chops that harness up in to something that works...wonder if that cell prep harness inputs mono or stereo audio?

When I push the AUX button on the F150, I get a text message like, "aux not available." Is that the same message on the Shaker?

I'd like to know what it's for as well. Why didn't they make it the button to access satellite radio?

You hear that, Ford engineers?

I'll check out what message you get when you press the "AUX" button and let you know, Mark.

Guys,

Check out the following:

IPod2Car

I plan to put this in my Impala soon. It isn't listed as compatible for the '05 Mustang yet, but I'm sure that it's only a matter of time before they make one. Kinda makes CD changers obsolete, especially if you have a 20 or 30 GB IPod.

One possible use, anyway.

Eric

My Shaker 500 displays this message when I press the "AUX" button: "NO AUX AUDIO".

I agree. I would have given up one of the Power Points on the F150 for even a miniplug aux input to the audiophile stereo. Still, at least the Shaker 500/1000 can read MP3s. My F150's stereo can't, which would make the aux input that much more valuable.

I'd go with an FM transmitter for an IPOD or similar player, but the frequency range suffers so much with FM that I don't think it's worth the money. I'd rather invest in a new front end than all the aux equip.

Mark - nicccceee F-150 - I just purchased an '05 F-150 SCREW Lariat 4x4 and I really like it!! Never had a truck before and can't believe how well this one rides and how nice the interior is!! Anyway, based on your above comments I believe we have the same head unit - I have the factory audiophile system with the built in sub under the rear seat and even though my head unit is a 6 CD player it is not marked with the "CD6/MP3" designation on the faceplate. My bro has the same truck with the "Preimum" Head unit that is identical to my Shaker 500 unit in my '05 GT. Anyway, my F-150 has an "Ambience" setting under the Menu functions that I can't figure out what it does??? Any idea what that setting is for? You have to 1st turn it on then you turn it up/down using the volume button - not the directional arrows........and the OM does not mention the "Ambience" setting at all.......

Thanks! Sounds like you've a nice rig too! You're right--Sounds like we have the same head unit in the audiophile system. I was curious if the 2005 Audiophile would have MP3 capability...Sorry to hear it doesn't.

I'm pretty sure that the "ambience" setting is like a mini-reverb, or DSP. I'll have to check to see if mine has it too.

Keep rockin'!

Bradley,

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I completely forgot.

I just checked, and my '04 Audiophile system also has the "Ambience" control, and is adjustable just like you said. And, as I just verified, it doesn't seem to sound any different no matter how you set it!

Just another Ford mystery, I guess.

I'm picking up a portable 40-gig player. Not an IPOD; too expensive. This one's a $249 Creative model. Got a very good rating on Crutchfield.

Anyway, I also ordered the Monster FM transmitter, which did NOT have very good personal reviews on Crutchfield, but I don't know what else to try until someone builds a harness that will "harness" the supposedly "aux" capability of our CD changers. Why didn't they get smarter with the Shaker? I've ordered the Shaker 1000 for the '06 'vert, and I hope they either get all the bugs worked out or go with another manufacturer.

All I ask is for a simple mini-plug input on the front!!! :bang:

Mark

I just want an harness that attaches to a universal input. RCA jack, headphone jack (like the thing used to send sound from a computer to speakers), just something I can hook up an alternate audio source into.

OK, I put on my best O.E.M. demeanor, and demanded (and received) the following from Delphi.

http://www.santorine.org/adolph/images/Shaker500.pdf

Looks like a piece of cake... take the AUX ENABLE (pin 4) to ground, one is right, two is left, three is shield.

I'll be on the phone with my dealer to get one of the neat little plugs that goes with it.

Please note, the Phone Transaction active is noted, as is the mono feed for the phone. This could get really interesting!

Hope this is helpful! I'll let you know how my cable goes, and where to get the bits and pieces that make it happen.

A Friend of mine just bought an '05 Lariat Crew cab, but his 6-CD player actually says MP3 on it! It doesn't say Shaker, however, but this is the first '05 F150 I've seen that plays MP3s!
