I think I want to change my stereo system from Shaker 500 to something else. It's really just wasted on me. I don't know anything about an MP3 player, and now I can't play an audio tape. Now, the cd player itself is nice. My dealer says I really shouldn't change anything in the car (says maybe that could cause electronic problems.) Would someone please make a suggestion about how I could get some unbiased help? I want my car phone installed, I'd like to have a stereo that plays am/fm, cassette, and cd's. I do not know anyone qualified to answer my question. Thanks for any help.

I'm going with Crutchfield. They give you all the wiring harnesses, mounting kits, instructions, and sometimes even special tools that you'll need. Plus they have great tech support if you have a problem. Here's a link for the unit I'm getting, it changes 67 different colors so you can match your My Color, and the satin/black will look great w/ the IUP.

Otherwise, check out any local car stereo shop or Best Buy, etc. As for the cell phone, you want it installed in your car? Get a new phone, they make them small now so you can put it in your cupholder. j/k

Crutchfield would be a great place to start. They will send you everything you need including a wiring harness so you will not have to cut any wires. Since the 05 has a double din opening (larger spot for the stereo) you will be able to get a combo unit there that will fit your needs. They have phone support that will actually help you with the installation and should be very simple to do even if you have never done anything like it before.

Sell your old unit on EBAY and you can make some pretty good change off it as well.

It's bigger than double DIN. They're right about crutchfield as a starting point, and also cardomain.com. However, be careful about buying from crutchfield. They're usually WAY more expensive than other places. True they give you a harness and mounting kit, but sometimes even those things won't offset the cost. Cardomain does price matching with reputable websites too, so if you find it on crutchfield, go on mysimon.com, pricescan.com and pricegrabber.com, put in the model number, and see if you can find somewhere cheaper. If you really want to, then you can go and cardomain and they'll price match it.

Good luck...this method saved me about 75 bucks on my wife's cd changer.
