Anyone got an idea how I can remove the rest of the air bag sticker off my visor.
I started to pull on it and it was coming off pretty evenly then it just separated on me leaving the backing. I wisely used the hair dryer on the other one after that.
Any help would be muchly appreciated. thanks.

 

I tried that on my old car, and boy was it a mess.....I never really got all of it off.....good luck. If anyone knows how ........I wantto know too, so it doesnt happen again!! ( Or maybe I will just leave them alone this time)!!

Have you tried adhesive remover? I would check the ingredients though, and make sure you arent putting something on there that will ruin your visor.

How about trying the dryer to soften the adhesive?

 

My dealer didn't put them on. He simply handed me the stickers with the manual.

 

try "goo gone" adhesive remover. test a small area first to make sure it doesn't stain the visor. IF it doesn't, that stuff works great at removing adhesive.

 

defintely try that somewhere where it cannot be seen.

If it is solvent-based it might do something funny to the fabric.

Hey Dan, I don't know if this will help or hurt, but whenever I wanted to remove adhesive from something, I would take a rag with some WD-40 on it and rub it until the adhesive dissolved. Unfortunately, I think the visor may be made of a porous material that will simply absorb the WD-40. It may even leave behind a smelly residue. Not sure if I would recommend it in this instance, but if all else fails...

Why did you want to remove the stickers to begin with?

Try getting a damp towel and lay the towel over the sticky stuff and then hold an iron on med/high heat over the towel it shud make the stuff come off a lot easier! . . . hope this helps

If its just adhesive, you might try an iron and a brown paper bag. Put the paper bag between the iron and the visor. The adhesive should melt into the bag.

 

I did this with mine -- came right off... could never tell it was there. Should work for you. Good luck

If all else fails I'll just cover it with a US flag sticker.

 

Moist towel and iron actually sounds like a good idea.

If all else fails, ask someone at a detail shop. I've got a friend that can get anything out of anything... unfortunately, he won't divulge his trade secrets.

 

I really would give the goo-gone a try. Everyone should have a bottle of it around. it is great stuff. I have never had it stain anything, but, i would still test it just in case.

 

I think goo-gone is citrus based (kinda like super concentrated orange clean) so it probably wont hurt the fabric...but still check just in case...

 

I've always used Pine-sol to remove gum off of my shoes when I step in some. This may do the trick for you

 

I tried the hair-dryer approach, and it did not work out well at all. I could not separate the sticker from the visor, and the visor material was stretching to much for my liking. I am now hunting for a dark colored sticker that I can put over it - unless I get brave and try that iron trick. Just not sure how I use the iron at a wierd angle without getting water all over the place.

 

As for ironing at a weird angle, here's a tip: REMOVE the visors from the car, bring them inside the house, iron them flat. The iron and moist towel should work.
