I have had a few poeple comment and ask questions about my seat heaters. So I am making it it's own thread.

My heated seats were bought/installed by the dealer. I had them ordered before the car arrived. I received the car on a Thursday and had an install appointment for Tuesday. Funny part is that my dealer had a Ford and a Chevy lot. They wanted to install it at the Chevy lot. Fine by me, it was closer to work. It took all day, since they were learning the new wiring of the 05. The guy said that people came in looking at my car all day long.

I got the basic package (only an on/off switch). But it heats the lower seat and the lumbar area. It cost $399 plus tax. Below is a picture of the switch on the driver side. It is easy to reach. There is a second one on the passenger seat. The guy wired it so that I have to have the car running and the panel dial turned to some sort of blower (ie feet, defrost, panel, etc). That is good for me, so I don't accidentally leave it on when I turn the car off.

It has a thermostat and will turn it self down before it gets too hot. It does get real toasty just before it cools down, then it kicks back up without getting too cold.

The seats heat up quicker than the cabin does, usually about 1-2 minutes. Makes it great since I don't have an remote-starter. I just get in and go. I can feel the heat even with a heavy jacket on also.

Ask your local dealer, maybe he can provide some literature. I just talked to mine. He was real easy to deal with. We talked for 10 minutes. He recommended the lower priced version. He said the higher priced one had three seting (hi/mid/low - and off). He said you could not tell the difference too much, at least not enough to pay the difference.

Cool. Thanks for the info. My sister car has seat heaters and they are REALLY nice on cold days. I was really wishing for some last night. It was around 7 degrees F and I had some last minute christmas shopping to do. :shock:

That is too sweet. I was wanting to get some for my car but was sure if it was possible. My friend's Sierra has them. Once, when my car was possessed, I was at her house & she made me go start the truck & turn them on before she would take me home. They were pretty awsome. I amdefiently going to talk to a dealer near me about them. Thanks for the info.

Happy Holidays Everyone

He said there were three types. I am rpetty sure they all heat the seat and back portion (at least the basic package does).

Basic = On/Off switch ($400)

Midgrade = Hi/Low/Off switch ($480)

Highgrade = Hi/Medium/Low/Off switch ($ not worth it)

He said the highgrade wasn't worth it. You could not tell the difference between the settings.

I don't know what brand/model it was. But I got it from a guy named Tony in the aftermarket department at my dealership (Tom Clark Ford). His number is (724) 834-6820 or (412) 751-2900 (this is a Chevy lot owned by the same owner). He travels back and forth between two lots. So if he is not there, leave a message and he will get back to you.

Try this link, I am pretty sure this is the same heated seats. It will tell you where you can get them installed. They are licensed by GM, so that makes sense as to why they were installed at the Chevy dealership.

Cool idea though and if i was in jersey still I'd be all over that

I am sure you can tell them to install them where-ever. I did nto think to do that. They just installed them where they wanted. The driver seat has to go there due to all the controls. But the passenger seat can be moved I think.

My buns and my wife's buns are plenty warm. They heat up relatively quickly. I can feel warmth in less than 5 minutes. It defintely warms up before the cabin warms up.

Just a thought here: If anybody wants the heated seat package, I can probably get some extra discounts from checkcorp ...Maybe save some members some $$ if you want to go through me since I got my heated kit at a discounted rate.My 'stang is being used as a "company" show vehicle so checkcorp is giving us special rates on kits.If anybody is interested send me a PM and I will see if I can help...chris

Is there any issue with installing the seat heaters in a car with side impact air bags?

Nope, I have side air bags. Dealer installed them no problem and said there was nothing to worry about.
