How many of you use your MP3 player

I use my iPod and I have a permanent hookup to my kenwood deck using their proprietary connection thing. Check out this link if you are interested:

I have it hooked up through my center console and keep my iPod in the center storage bin. No drilling thanks to that weird little pass thru in the storage area. Works great for playlists and skipping songs, horrible for finding a song/artist specifically.

Radio Shack has an FM transmitter call iRocket that will transmit to 4 different FM chanels, operates on 2 AAA bateries, also works for your PC if you want to send streaming web radio or your music collection to your stereo as long as it's in range (10-20 feet). Cost $29

first you need a pc...then you make a data cd or mp3 cd....then you simply put it in like a regular cd...and it should play in track or folder mode depending if you put it in folders or not...

I use it all the time! Don't even use the radio. Just burn your cd collection on 6 CDs in data form. That's more then enough music! (some 600 to 900 songs)

I have a cd burner, but what software do you use to convert audio CDs into MP3 format? Is there any freeware out there that does a good job?

use media player 10 to rip the cd's and then move them to a file on the desktop and when you have all the sings you want just save them as a data file and they will be in mp3 format

I use a freeware program called FreeRIP to rip audio CD's to MP3. I find it easier to use, but maybe that's just the "geek" in me. I burn with Windows XP's burning function. I organize my CD's by artist and just dumkp every song by that artist into his/her folder. Works like a champ!

As I write this, I'm burning my 4th MP3 for the car I expect to get in 2 weeks. It's a new laptop, so it came with Musicmatch Jukebox. It isn't hard to do now that my 12 year old nephew showed me how.
A question though, I thought my Shaker 500 would automatically play MP3 discs. Do I have to buy something to play these discs I'm making now? That would really stink. I'm getting so many songs onto one CD, I'm amazed.
I looked it up and I think it automatically plays MP3s. I think I need to take these discs to a Ford dealership and try playing them in one of the cars before I continue burning all my CDs.

Great! I've never tried to rip CDs, since my F150's Audiophile system doesn't read MP3s, but I can start working on the library now...
The manual says that certain homemade CDROMs might not work. What brand CDR seems to have the least compatibility problems with the Shaker? I've steered away from Memorex CDROMs for other reasons, but have been using TDK and Fuji CDROMs in the computers with little problem.
No sense making more 'coasters' than I have too!

What quality setting do you use? Since I've just ordered an '06, I don't want to burn a bunch of MP3s at too low a quality, but I want to get as many songs on a CD as possible. Thanks!

This is weird. I took your suggestion and used Windows Media Player V10 to make MP3 files. It ripped all the files on the CD, but when I clicked on "Find Album Info" and selected "finish" only the first song on the CD got moved to the folder Windows created with the name of the band. All the other tracks stayed in an "unknown artist" folder.
Any idea why they didn't all move? I've tried it on 3 different computers with the exact same result.

After playing with WMP a few HOURS, I found that I just wasn't giving it enough time. The hourglass was showing for what seems like ages (10s of minutes--much longer than it took to rip the CD), then all the tracks finally showed up. I have no idea why it took so long on a 3.4 Ghz P4, but go figure... Free's free.

I would suggest dumping WMP and using Exact Audio Copy. But that's just me...
