Go to Interior Mods, lots of info on each of these, but most folks are going with Pioneer AVIC.

I have the DDX7019 in my Sport Trac if you have any specific questions. I do not have any navigation, however, no need for it.

I (along with several other forum members) installed the AVIC-D3. Its a great system for the money. DVD, Navigation, and if you buy the iPod interface, full iPod control through the headunit. Well worth the money. Street prices puts it around $600 or so, with no harnesses. Check it out. I love mine!!!

I also think you should look at the AVIC D3... I was deciding between the AVIC D3 and Z2 before I decided to go a different route, and here's what I found:

Z2: $1500
Pros: * No navigation DVD required to use GPS, b/c of internal hard drive
Cons: * Allegedly ugly color scheme
* No known way to play DVDs while in motion - or enter GPS stuff. There is an internal accellerometer that determines whether the car is in motion and as of a few months ago, when I was researching, nobody had a solution.

D3: $700
Pros: * Cheap
* Better color scheme, maybe not, I don't remember.
* It is possible to trick the unit into thinking the car is parked, allowing playback of DVDs as well as entering GPS information.
Cons: * Uses up DVD slot when using GPS. You can remove the navigation DVD if you're only driving in a local area that the system caches.

I ended up deciding that the D3 was the better option, even if they were the same price, because of the ability to trick it into thinking the car is parked. (No, I don't condone watching movies while driving, but it is reasonable to have a passenger input GPS coordinates while you are driving...)

Actually you can bypass a Z2. It is just a two wire bypass. Just ground the P-Brake wire and move the mute wire and ground it. Detailed instructions are avaliable on AVIC411.com.

I am about to pull the trigger on the Kenwood 7100. Sounds like it has the best of both worlds with a 2GB on board storage, uses Garmin Nav, full IPod Interface, Bluetooth, and easily wired to be "fully active"

Crutchfield is running a special on them and I'm not really sure why I haven't already bought the dang thing...

Ah sweet.. that's news to me. I would have probably gotten the Z2 then, because that was the biggest drawback for me.
