No need to buy the special parking brake bypass... take the cable that has to go to the parking break wire and (don't remember 100% as i did it a while ago) either ground it or give it a 12V and that's it! :) |

Does anyone have a suggestion of how to dim down a screen that doesn't have an option to do so?
|
What kind of deck is it? Most have a dimmer/illumination wire that is orange/white that would be hooked up to a 12 volt source when the light switch is on, for example any of the dash lights.
|
Kenwood ddx418. I believe there is a dimmer one. What would I need to tap it into?
|
This may vary because everyones eye's vary, but I'm glad I disconnected my dimmer wire. The stock brightness of my pioneer is perfect. Can always see it during the day and not too bright for night time driving. Plus there's a lot of roads where I live that require head light use when driving, so even I wanted my lights on during the day, I wouldn't be able to see the screen. Plus most these units, it seems the interface and screens are of a variety of darker colors. Like my background is black with various colors throughout so its not that bright.

Another member suggested pushing and holding buttons and I found one that I could turn the screen off but keep the radio on. If I get bored one day I may tap that wire into the dimmer

I'm using my gf's old iphone 4 and I'm debating whether to get the cable. My pioneer has app mode and allows me display certain apps on the screen. I found a couple offline navigation apps that I could use. Main thing holding me back is having to pull the whole system out again. |

I believe its just pioneer that has the feature. Its called app mode or advanced app mode. Which just displays selected apps on the screen. Then some units have app radio 2 which actually mirrors your smart phones screen. Pretty neat. |
