i'm looking for a touch screen flat in dash panel... that looks factory!

check this out, it is new to crutchfield's website. not sure what is diff from the old model. anyone know more about it?

Here is the new Pioneer that I am looking to purchase. If you use a shopping engine to find the lowest price don't buy from Sonic Electronix...they are completely incompetent based on my experience.

The only reason why I decided to go with the pioneer and not a "carputer" was because of other services such as the real time XM traffic information. That info can be key to my commute in VA.
Here is another option for you to consider. Can get a lot for your money this way...

I've also been eyeing that one. It will be about $400/500 street price more than the D2. It has a more sophisticated Navigation methodology but it sitll won't play DVDs to the head unit (even though the screen will be larger). DVD playback will only be for external video monitors or external DVD feeding the Z1. Of course "bypasses" can change how things work.
Let me know if I am off with my knowledge on Z1. Hard to learn anything when noone has them.

I sent them an email to pioneer asking this
Does this unit rip music to part of that internal hard drive like the new
eclipse unit? Also will this unit play movies on its own screen or is it
ONLY separate screens?
and I got this
Yes, this unit will allow you to listen to music while at the same time ripping and storing at 4 times playing speed. It will also play movies on it's 7 inch screen.
I also told them there VDD guages should also include good ones like a/f and boos. He sent that on to whoever is in charge of that.

anyone think of trying to get a OEM ford navi from a expedition/freestyle....THAT would look stock and shoulda came as an option ANYway....won't have all the other pre-outs as the aftermarket units and other features....but it should have an mp3 jack and sirius capability right?....however i'm sure from ford it would cost an arm...a leg...your 1st born child....etc.....lol....but all depends what you want....i think the eclipse looks the most stock (green lights and silver/black face goes with bright IUP) but its more expensive than the pioneer/alpine/kenwoods....ford one would LOOK stock but not as many features.....just my $.02 since i am VERY into car audio and mustangs....check out my car domain.....Car Domain

That's the reason I bought the AVIC-D2. Looks like it's suppossed to be there. You cant really see from the picture but the illumination of the side buttons is green like the lighting on the door buttons and steering wheel.

Rick, what is your overall impression of the DDX-7017? The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) here in Germany has them in stock but I am sitting on the fence on this purchase. I have an iPod 30gb Video that I want to integrate into the head unit. Any experience with this yet?

This was my first Kenwood deck. I have never been a real fan, but let me tell you it is one of the easiest to access menu systems I have used and the sound and control are awesome. I love it and am thinking of getting the flip out version for my Ram replacing my Pioneer DVD Deck. As far as ipod, I have not got into that. The new 6019 listed the ipod adapter as a selling point.
