Has anyone installed the MirrorTap from BlendMount?
Stupid question of the day...
I have a Escort Passport 9500ix. Right now it's on one of the factory suction cup mounts and plugged into the dash. I ordered the BlendMount mount for it, and since I wanted a cleaner install I decided to go with their MirrorTap kit, as well.
It looks pretty painless, but looks can sometimes be deceiving. Just figured I'd ask if anyone else has hooked one of these up yet. I had originally planned to use the factory direct wire kit, but this looked like an easier/ simpler set up, which is why I picked it up.
Thanks in advance for your experience...

No, just have the blendmount for my V1, with a hardwire back to the SJB fuse panel. Although, it would be simple enough to do their wiring, it's not very difficult to run your own, and have just as clean of a finished product.
I got a tap kit off ebay a long time ago, just jammed the two wires into the powered mirror plug, works fine. Zip-tied the excess out of the way.
You might look at the original mount, which was rather blatantly copied, it's a bit more solid, fewer pieces, the angle is adjusted by bending the backside of the detector mount, works great, much cheaper (though the design has changed from the one I bought a few years ago, now has that pivoting lower piece):

Have to agree, they don't do a good job advertising -- unless you know the site, wouldn't ever find it. Think I found it through someone here, 3-4 years ago.
You can barely see mine in this pic, the old one-piece, non-hinged design, the bottom tab that screws in is bendable to adjust the angle of the detector, then the mirror sorta clamps it down so no bumping around.

I'd buy a new one if you start carrying them! It'd be a nice continuation of the American made and designed theme. I think the lady (Joy) has a store with all these frilly country-themed stuff for women, and the husband came up with the original design and prototype, farmed it out to a company to make them in larger quantities.
Mine is great quality, if a bit thicker and bulkier than it needs to be (it started as a Z mount, for Nissan's, I believe, and originally had that Z logo on it).

Thanks for the information. It came in and the Blend Mount went on pretty painlessly. The MirrorTap looks pretty easy, as it's two little prongs. One goes into the 12V power line and the and the other in the ground. Any idea what the colors are for those on a 2008?
Thanks in advance...
Thanks in advance...
You are the man! In my application the wires were actually completely opposite of the diagram. I had three wires; a blue and green into the first notch and a black in the second. The black was the ground and the other two went into the hot line. Hooking it up was a breeze. Just slid the two little tabs into the notches next to the wire and used the supplied wire ties to hold it all in place. Went in painlessly and looks much better then the cord hanging down.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Thanks, Bro. An added beny is the detector turns off and on with the power now. When I was using the dash plug, I had to turn it on and off manually. I was really surprised how much more viewing space it opens up by mounting it up on the mirror instead of on the windshield...
Thanks again...

I fabbed a bracket out of 1 1/2 x 4 in alum. Mounted it to the passenger side visor mount. Bolted the Beltronics bracket to it and hardwired to the box down the a pillar. Cheap and works well.
here is a crappy pic of it in my 2006 GT. i meant to paint it black when i moved it to the GT500 , but didn't.

Just remember kids, when the Laser indicator goes off, it's just letting you know you've been busted and to go ahead and pull over. LOL!
Good pic!
Anyone notice with these the detector bounces around a lot? I have my rear-view mirror positioned to put pressure on it from above, 'clamps' it in much better. Wondering if the newer models are any better?

Mine doesn't move at all Bro...Rock solid...For the hundred dollars invested between the mount and wiring, I am very happy with the clean and solid mount...
