getting new reciever

can anyone give me the best way to do this myself. i have found a couple links but wondering if more i dont want to mess anything up. i am supposed to get wiring harness and kit to install. do i need to worry about any engine light stuff afterward or such. just disconnect the neg on the battery right? then just install like any other? no computer stuff to worry about? thanks.

make sure you have the wiring harnes and mounting plate/bracket.. had mine almost installed and then oops...had to run out and find them with the unit half hanging out of the dash.
