I am looking at getting one for my car. I like the look and it will allow me to use that first hole for holding my cell phone. I am just a little curious, is there a rubber seal on the bottom of the insert? Setting a metal insert into the metal bezel, I am afraid that scratching will occur and also a lot of rattling while driving. If there is a rubber seal it would help with the surfaces and that rattles.

The thing about it is that with anything in those holes, I find it hard to reach around to shift. This sounds like it would only work for the automatics in the family...

I have the Auto, I am just more concerned about metal on metal and the rattling that will occur on the trip down the road. Could be very annoying. That is what I am curious if there is some kind of protection on the underside of the insert.

it does have a large rubber ring at the base and the top actually sits on the dash not the cupholder bezel so it should not scratch.

you may also use some tape around the bottom to snug it in tight if this is going to be more of a permanent mod.

i can hopefully get some pics installed soon but right now the dash is pulled apart because yes i am actually working on the shifter!!!!!!!!

i may look into the aod **** next year too guys. just need to get caught up.

regards
george

so let me get this, you are designing the auto shifter in billet with o/d button. Oh my god let me get the checkbook out. Please say it again. If this is all true, do you have any idea on how long it may be before available. I am sure many are chomping at the bit with your last comment about the shifter,LOL, anyway cant wait to here more. MGW Rocks.

i borrowed an 07 gt from the dealer today to check on some other fitment issues and snapped a few crappy pics. i only had the chrome cupbezel on hand so it looks out of place with the satin factory shifter bezel thingy but it gives you a good idea of the height of the soda holder insert. it actually sits lower than i thought as you can see about the same height as the center console . with a soda in it it would obviously sit rather tall for shifting but again not really its intent.
