changed head unit, have a question

Recently I swapped out my Shaker 1000 head unit for a Power Acoustik dvd/navigation unit. The Power Acoustik unit has been working quite well, however today it did something strange. The screen would not move back into viewing position and the dvd/cd player was clicking rapidly. I ejected the disc and the clicking stopped, pushed the eject button again and the screen closed like it should. I turned on the a/c for a little while to cool the inside of the car, then it worked fine. I'm thinking this was a heat related issue since the car sat in the sun for an hour and a half. Anyone have any other ideas? I know some window tint will help since the dark charcoal interior gets very hot in the sun.

I would not think that the heat would cause that problem..... I mean, most audio manufacturers know and understand the internal temps that vehicles see in the summer months. Just think if you were down in Arizona, your internal temps could likely be 30 degrees higher than what they are now. I would let it go and see if it happens again, but keep your receipt and warranty card handy.

That sounds exactly like one (of the three I had) of my skipper1000s. When it was hot outside and the car had been sitting in the sun it would just click.

Well, more problems. Now my Power Acoustik unit will only play music discs. DVD discs won't play at all, works for maybe 10 seconds or so then the screen goes blue and it attempts to read the disc again, won't read it at all after that. Power Acoustik's website is inoperative at the moment too.

The website finally came back up, so I sent Power Acoustik an e-mail about my problem, just need to wait for a response so I can get the unit repaired.

Well, the disc player completely quit working now, won't play any discs at all. Waiting for a response from Power Acoustik.

Found my problem, had a few connections in my wiring come loose. Fixed that and everything is working again.
