It's for a mini kleenex pack.

But more importantly, why is there an access door inside there that goes to the rear of the hand brake? Is it there solely for hand brake cable adjustment?

If its the same as my Explorer, they would be for nickels, dimes and quarters.

Well, Coins was my first guess, but when I tried it out, no coins seemed to fit or stay in them.
Thanks. I guess I will go and try again.

Sure they do. They hold nickels, dimes and quarters. They fit right in mine at an angle.

Yeah coins fit in just fine. But if you over load them, you'll have change all on the inside of the console. Not a big deal to some. I am as **** as they get. Especially with my "Stanger"

Is there suppose to be a liner of some sort for this compartment. Mine is bare, with the two studs/screws exposed. Is everyone else's like this?

Steve - you should have a felt pad down there covering the area where the two screws are.

The parking brake access cover is for adjusting the parking brake tension. Already adjusted mine as the cable had stretched a bit and the handle was pulling up too high.

Thanks Bradly and lwing18! The dealer that sold me the car has ordered me the missing felt piece.
