Had to watch my 1 year old nephew at the same time for about 1 and 1/2 hrs. Slowed me down. Had to go to Lowells and get the eyelets as well. In my area those places are packed on good weather week end days.
Enfynet
What do I do with those seat belts anyway?
I plan on mounting a full size spare in there in the Fall when I replace my tires.
The back rolls up to put in cargo from the rear.

The lower portion is very light. The back rests weigh more because they have wood backing. All of the metal hardware weighs as much as the lower seat portion. I probably cut the overall weight in half. But that would be a guess. There is no way the back seats weigh 40 lbs, as I have seen in ads for rear seat deletes, maybe 20 lbs. My rig probably weighs less than 10 pounds.

I am a little confused. Why would you take the seats out? I think they look great. I think it also looks odd that their are no seats now. It seems as if the car is beeing rebuilt and its not finished. Just my opinion but I am curius to why people take the seats out. The only thing I can think of is if you race and you are trying to decrease weight.

I have always wanted to mount a full sized spare back there, sorta like the concept car.
But most folks do it for racing. Less weight means a better hp to weight ratio.
Also, I hate being the bus. Two seats and that's it! No longer will I have to shoe horn folks back there.

Does no one like the idea of a full size spare, like the concept? That leaves room in the donut hole in the trunk that I can put my nitrous!
A couple of additional shots.

I'm with dtdebuty; what's the point? If the intent was to replace the seats with a decent audio system, that's another story.

With perfectly useless rear seats. When folks sit back there, all they do is ruin the backs of my front seats! IMO.
Small children might be comfy back there. I do not know though.
On a positive note. If I need the rear seats, it will take about 15 minutes to switch them back in. If I go on a long trip, I may put them back in for that.

Mark, I'd be curious to know the exact weight of the rear seats. If you have a scale, you could step on the scale first and weigh yourself, then get on it while holding the seat and subtract. Of course, I realize that's a lot to ask, but it would be valuable info.

Just what I need. A project for this week end. Should only take 15 minutes...
35 pounds for all of the rear seat components and hardware.
My replacement parts to include blanket and misc rags. 10 pounds.
one half blanket
19 x 44 inch peg board
20 feet of 1/2 x 1/2 wood stripping
small handful of screws and washers
49x50 rubber backed carpet. Actually two small carpets cut to fit 49 inches on one side and 42 inches on the other.

Sorry, don't care for it at all. Looks totally unfinished and the blanket makes it even worse.
The only way I could consider modifying the rear seats is if the aftermarket produces some type of folding rear seat ala 1967 fastback. If the back of the seat folded down and had those crome (or perhaps satin / brushed aluminum) runners where it looks like it was designed from the factory to look like that.....they I could support it, because you would have the benefit of folding the seats down for "the look" and for cargo, but you could also fold them up and have a passenger or two back there for those "emergencies" like when you have to take a hot chick home but only if she is allowed to bring her two hot friends that just happen to be twins with her!
