I just got my mustang about two weeks ago with the shaker 500 system in it. I got about 1700 to spend on sub(s) and an amp. I just want something to feel out the bass in the car. Problem is i don't know what's a good brand to get with the budget i have. I had a w7 with a full system in an accord coupe so i haven't really kept up with audio for a while. anyways, what's a good combo of sub(s) and amp for the mustang?

The reason I went with the Shaker 1000 is because I wanted to spend my extra cash on other mods, but since you are beyond that point, I don't know much about specific brands, do you have any local car stereo places that you can trust for advice?

I recommend a 12" Kicker L7, puts out more sound than the cabin can handle, and takes up less space, and less weight than 2 subs. Get a very powerful amp (this sub can take it) with built in crossover, and your done for well under 1700. Prolly closer to 700 if you shop ebay and get a factory refurb.

The Scosche box is a perfect enclosure for the trunk of the Mustang. You can get it unloaded or loaded. I am looking at getting one unloaded with either an Infinity or JL Audio 12" sub and Alpine amp. Check out this link for more discussion...

I have the one-piece BassLink sub from Infinity. It's not really show quality sound, but for $400 it gives me plenty of kick w/out too much setup hassle. Plus it's really small.

For $1700 you can get a good quality setup. I agree with the L7 being more than enough for this car, and with the extra $ you can replace the factory speakers and maybe add/upgrade the amps from the Shaker.

I replaced my base system with all aftermarket for less than $1700 (speakers, HU, sub, amps, Sirius and install). I'm not gonna win any loud stereo comps, but this is the baddddest stereo I've ever had. I guess my point is, if you only want to fill-out your bass, you can spend A LOT less than your budget and get some great stuff.

I have the MTX enclosure for the Mustang filled with one 12". 2 Boston Acoustic Amps, JL Audio speakers. I ran the wires myself, along with Kenwood Deck...Under 1700 bucks.

I think i'm actually going to save up and replace some things. but for the people who replace the subs in the doors, how much did it change the overall quality of the system?

I have Rockford Fosgate P18S4 in the doors and they sound a lot better than stock.

I did Infinity 6x8 Kappas in the door and rear, CDC 8" single channel
subs in the doors all on stock amps and Scosche box with a 12" dvc
Infinity Kappa Perfect driven by a Hifonics Zues amp - all totalled about
$1,200 in parts. The sytem sounds great, although it took a bunch of
trial and error tuning to get the 12" at the right volume setting to
blend in perfectly.

i am a wholesale distributor for db drive if you want quality equipment with amazing sound quality then let me know, i will give any TMS member that wants db drive the same price i pay for it straight from db research who manufactors db drive. if you want info on what they offer check out www.dbdrive.net if you want to know how much this stuff costs send me a PM. they do not just let any old joe off the street carry there products and you will find very few people on ebay selling it and they still charge twice what i will pay for it and charge you guys for it. if you have had jl audio or fosgate or kicker then you will be blown away how great the db drive platinum series speakers.subs and amps perform over those companys. it is by no means low end or budget car audio but if you can get it for half of retail you will get high end for the price of low end retail car audio. check out the progress pics of my car in the sig and you will see i stand behind db drive and believe in the quality so much its what i run in my car aswell as my wifes truck

i also get every other car audio brand you can thinkof wholesale, so im not running all db drive in my car because it was the cheapest thing for me to run. i have had just about every brand in in the past and this is by far my favorite car audio brand on the market now.

just to give you guys an example

the 1200.1 platinum amps im running int he stang retail for $799 each and there is a guy on ebay selling them for $599 which would be well worth it, however i get them brand new straight from the manufactor for $350. that is the price i will pass ont he any TMS member who is looking to get any db drive products. im not saying you would have to go with that powerfull of an amp but it goes to show you i can get them for over half of retail.

anyway if anyone is interested PM me or just give me a call sometime
