I'm looking to MOD my pedal covers. Who has the least expensive ones so far?
Is there any difference for the V6 / GT? Easy to replace?

 

I think steedas are the cheapest right now at $45 for the pedals (3) and $35 for the dead pedal. Roush has some to at $92 for the manual and $80 for automatics without a dead pedal I believe. I don't know of any others.

As far as ease of replacement. There was a post not to long ago in the interior mods section. You might search for it, but if I remember correctly you have to remove the covers from your pedals before adding the new ones. One of the pedals is easy to remove, the others aren't. Then you just drill holes for the new ones.

Saw some new ones. UPR has some $69.99 for manual tranny or $59.99 for autos. Not the cheapest, but it is another option.

The UPR ones look very good. I like the fact that you get to keep some rubber, should prove less slippery when wet

 

I recieved mine from UPR today and they installed in about 20 minutes. They are installed by drilling several pilot holes for each "protector" and using self-tapping screws.

I ordered some this morning. Can't wait to get them in. I think UPR has the best pedals of the bunch so far.

 

Guess I wont be getting the UPR ones. I dont like the idea of drilling holes in the pedals, anyone wlse feel that way or is it just me?

 

Well, the Steeda ones ask you to remove the rubber pedals and drill holes as well

 

They're only pedals. If the worst thing happens and sometime down the road you don't like the covers anymore, just buy new pedals. That is if the holes are even noticeable. Who looks at the pedals closely anyway? B)

 

Are the pedals easy to remove? I've never done it before?

 

Just got the Steeda pedal covers, and tried to install them tonight. what is with the fit of these things?? . The Steeda hole pattern leaves no meat on the pedal in the present Steeda fastener locations. Has anybody done this install and used all 4 holes for fastening to the pedal. I think Steeda should have provided a tool or template for drilling these holes. :bang:

Can anyone give any helpful advice to installing this mod???

 

Use a titanium drill bit and a variable speed drill. Start off very slow to let the bit start a hole and not wander all over the place. Once it's got a good start, increase the speed. This worked for me.

 

I installed the UPR covers. I broke the bit on the last hole. Fortunately it was enough to get the cover on. The brake pedal was the hardest because my drill was almost to big to fit between the pedal and the dash. The Acc and Clutch pedals were pretty easy.

I was kinda disapointed that they cost $70. Doesn't seem close to $70 worth of metal and labor. But they look nice.

Yep - just make sure you have the pedal in a position so as many of the 4 holes can get as much meat as possible.

 

OK, also, the cover contours different than the pedals...will it pull in?

 

If you mean the screws, yeah they'll pull in, but the covers won't get flat - they'll have the curve to them

 

Did them today, what a pita!!! Steeda did a bad job with these, they should have provided a template, an amateaur would have screwed this job up. Also, the contour of the covers were much less curved than the pedals, so the drilling locations were much harder than it needed to be.
I think the gas pedal should have been self tapping screws, due to the underneath construction of the original plastic pedal. must be real careful where you drill or you wont get the nut on!
And lastly, be very careful at first when you drive the car, the brake pedal cover is much bigger than stock and is much closer to the gas pedal than before, if you are not careful to keep your foot in the middle of the brake, you will catch the gas pedal 3/4 of the way down...not a good feeling i can asure you!

No , I did not mean the screws...I meant will the covers bend to fit the pedal underneath, mine were NOT bent enough..ie, to flat

 

Dave they look great - did you go with a titanium drill bit? Bet you didn't know you'd have to be a contortionist did ya?
