Best 6x8 Speakers for S197?
Hey guys. I'm wanting to trade my Pioneer 3-way 6x8's with something else. I have them in my doors and rear deck for a total of four 6x8's. They sound pretty good but I'm thinking I can get a better sound. I have a Premier head unit if anyone wants to know. So I wanna know what everyone else has replaced their factory speakers with and how they like it. Do you think I would be better with just replacing my door speakers with Pioneer 4 way 6x8's or replacing all four of my speakers with another brand?

I have Boston Acoustics all the way around in mine with a Kenwood Head Unit. The difference is night and day. My buddy has Kappas and to me they sound too tinny. The BA to me have a much more full sound and aren't heavy on treble.

What model number of Boston Acoustics do you have? I was looking at prices, the top line ones are a bit pricey. I'm looking for something to go with my Power Acoustik dvd/nav stereo that wouldn't be too heavy on treble or bass, a nice balance.

For the fronts I am running the BA SX50 5-1/4 http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...065SX50&tp=106
For the back I'm running BA S85 6x8 http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...i=065S85&tp=92
Hope this helps. They really do sound great with my Kenwood Excelon DPX-701

I have Pioneer 4-ways and they're basically 3-ways with an extra super tweeter. Very piercing treble if you set them up that way. Mid and bass they're about the same as the 3-way Pioneers I have in the rear.

Easy as popping off the speaker grilles, undoing 4 torx bolts, lifting the speaker out and disconnecting the wiring (or reverse for installation).
Its as hard as fitting a torx screwdriver or socket in there to losen up the back 2. There's almost no room.

On the 07+Mustangs you do have to remove the entire rear deck, and take out the plastic rear panels. The 05's had the speaker grill covers, ours don't. I replaced all mine with kicker 6x8's. But plan on replacing the fronts with a set of components.
