I know this sounds lame, but I really do drive my Mustang Vert with family in it. My son is 7 and loves it back there with the top down, but there is no cupholder.

I was just wondering if anyone had found anything that might work for him.

You could try one of those helmets that people wear at football games or a camelbak

I actually have not seen a solution yet but good luck finding one

Whatever he is drinking is not going to stay cold for long in the vert. So use the other seatbelt to strap in a small cooler with ice. that way you can carry extras.

Okay... I took your advice and went and bought a cooler for the back seat. I even bought one that plugs into the car to run it's own fridge (makes ice and everything). I strapped it into the back seat and drove around. I keeps his drinks cold enough, but didn't solve my primary problem: a place to put his drink between sips.

Guess I'll keep looking.

I do have the cooler though - bought it already for road trips. And I will keep looking for a solution. Thanks.

1) Well He could open the cooler and place the bottle or jug with cap on of course back in the cooler or 2) you'll have to go look'n for one with cup holders built in the lid or :scratch: 3) keep the cooler if you like it and return the boy for one that doesn't drink while rideing in a vehicle.

He could be the cup holder since he is lucky enough to be allowed to drink in it. Only mt wife is allowed that privilage in mine. That's because she said I'm having my drink in here.

I've seen coolers that have drink holders molded into the top.

what about one of those cheap plastic consoles? I seem to remember them making one that that fits over the trasnmission hump....should fit ok in the back seat. Has 2 cup holders...

Some one in the back seat is a no-no for me. If someone even asked to bring a drink in my car, they'd be walking. I could not give you any advice other than tell him to wait.

Not to copy the "how to remove your antenna steps" but.

step 1- get in the back seat

step 2- hold drink

step 3- put on seat belt WHILE doing step 2

Step 4- if the drink could "sweat", wrap in napkin

Step 5- hold it between your legs


there's your cup holder.

The car is retro. No cupholders back in 1967, none in the backseat. People did not have to have a drink with them at all times. Even kids.

Okay. I get it. Some of you don't have kids, family or friends you can trust in your car. I have some of those too. My son isn't one of them. He loves and respects the car. On top of that, he has never spilled a drink in any car.

Generally we don't drink in the car either. So this is usually a non issue.

However, we are about to take a multi-day roadtrip and drive up California Highway 1. I thought it might be a bit rough on everyone to not allow drinks in the car. I also thought it might be a bit unfair to make him hold his drink cup for the whole time. I also figured it would be insane to drive one of the most most beautiful stretches of road in the world and not take my Mustang because I don't want drinks in the car.

I was simply hoping someone had found a cool solution. I will go check JC Whitney. Thanks, that was a good idea. I haven't been there since we got rid of my wife's minivan, but you're right - they have loads of that kind of stuff.

This might help Cup holder. . Hopefully, until you find one, your son likes the juice drink that comes in it's own pouch with straw, Capri Sun I think it's called?
