I have not had any problems with my S-1000 (knock on wood) I really like it. I upgraded the two back speakers (i have a coupe) with top of the line Polk Audios, that made a big differance.

But I will eventually rip it out and replace it with a carputer. Not because I don't like the Shaker (no problems with it, no bad disks and ALL I feed it are CD-Rs suffed with MP3s), but because I WANT to build up and install a custom car computer that do do all the things I want it to do.

I don't really, for just radio it's fine, it sounds good and is far louder than I'd ever need it to be. I'm not into sharing my musical tastes with every other driver in my vacinity (or 3 city blocks as seems to be real popular 'round here) with anoying thump boom thump boom pooka chicka-pooka chicka pop boom.

The shaker is as you mentioned, not intuitive to use at all, but thats not a real big deal. The big deal is the spitting cd's, freezing up, skipping, refusing to work ect. I don't really know what to do with it short of replacing the whole thing at my own expense. It's the random nature of it's freaking out, makes it pretty difficult to demonstrate to the dealership.

I don't even bother having CD's in the car anymore.
I've read tons of complaints about the shaker and the CD problems, and I'm wondering if they have mad some improvements in the 2007 cars. I've had mine for about 6 weeks, and I swap CD's like crazy. I've never (knock on wood) had a problem or a single skip. Or, is going to start happening over time???

Mine only really skips on MP3's or CD's that I create on a RW CD..

I've confirmed that the Load / Eject button is getting pressed properly when trying to load - then subsequently ejects the current CD loaded in the play section of the Shaker. That's not to say that the button itself is not faulty as it doesn't happen every time..
I just get sick of wasting my time going back and forth to the dealer only to have them tell me "We couldn't make it malfunction" or "It's normal operation" etc...

I don't believe my Shaker 1000 is as good as an aftermarket for the price but I've never been able to put a system together, myself, that sounds the way I'd like it, so I'm happy with what I've got. My radio's been warrantied once and the only problem now is some songs end slightly early as well as getting a spike on the start of some cd's. What I would like to be able to do is to control the S-1000 subwoofer's output. Some songs are way over-powered. What I really need is a Shaker 750.

Ditch an entire car because of a radio.

I`m with a lot of others here. I went with a Alpine iva w200 because I wanted Sat radio and Ipod without any adapters and such. Never even put a CD in my 500.

Did you bother to read the ad???

The radio had nothing to do with the decision to sell the car...

Mostly the o5's and some of the o6's. If you take it back, they'll replace it under warranty with a "C" version that supposedly doesn't have the problems. I'm guessing the 'o7's are the ones with the C version from the factory.
