anyone with cloth seats installed leather takeoffs?
Jay....or anyone who's done this. Can you remember whether or not the perforated part of the leather (on your butt and your lower back) is stitched in seperately to the smooth parts of the leather seat coverings? If so, is there enough of an underside lip between the two leather pieces to take them apart and then re-stitch later?
I'm wanting to change my Parchment interior to a 2-tone Parchment and Charcoal and all of these rip-off interior places want ridiculous money for enough charcoal perforated leather to do the job. My thoughts.....buy a charcoal take-off and have the upholster (I have a good one where I live) take out the inside parchment perforated sections and re-stitch the charcoal inserts from the take-off set.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark

From what I remember I believe the sides and perforated center sections are seperate, and that is also the spot where they sew the strips of velcro that keeps the bottom and back attached to the foam foundation. That's a pretty good idea you have there, I think it could work out pretty well - best of luck with it and be sure to post pics of the finished job!
I think the console cover is leather and the stearing wheel is leather wrapped. Not sure if anything is done to the door armrest. After a good hot day in the sun all the wrinkles are out of mine and they fit nice and tight now. Best $300 I ever spent.
The leather console lid, door armrests and upper dash pad are all covered in leather if you have a 2007 with the Premiere Trim Package, which also includes the aluminum pedal covers and the silver shifter bezel and aluminum shifter ****.
And I agree, installing the leather take-off seatcovers was well worth the $300 and time it took to install them!
