Any problems with window tint scratches after
Adrenalin, You are usually right on brother, but you are wrong on this one. Ford Cut corners on this car, tried to save a little cash, and it is ruining an item that ford itself considers 'normal and customary upgrades'. It is costing people out of pocket money to have their tint replaced and felt liners installed where they should have been installed in the first place. Now, in your case with your wheels, Ford does make a statement saying that you should put original tire wheel combos on your car and any damage caused by not original equipment is not their responsibility. So, If they would have put a little blurb or warning stating 'don't get your windows tinted because we used cheap hard rubber gaskets on the inside of this car and it will cause vertical scratches in your tint.' I have owned 3 mustangs since 96. 96GT windows tinted never scratched factory installed inner felt liner. 98 Cobra Vert windows tinted/never scratched felt factory installed. 03GT windows tinted/never scratched felt factory installed.
I have used the same Tint, and same installers for each car. In each case, Llumar Stealth. It has the highest heat rejection qualities out there for a non metallic tint which happens to be very important here in fla. I got the same tint on this car and two days after they are tinted there are at least 20 vertical scratches on my window and we are not supposed to be pissed at Ford? What if your paint would have bled through those sweet racing stripes and you had to buy a special coating for your paint but you didn't know so you had to take the stripes off, get the protectant, and then have the stripes redone out of your pocket.....come on big guy....that cold weather up there is messin with your mind. No flaming intended here, just trying to illustrate a point.
PS, you have the baddest hiney stang on this sight for the record!

Good Luck to you....... you changed something from factory (adding tint), so they are not liable in any way. If they fix it for you, then consider yourself lucky.

Mine is less than one month old and has developed scratches. FORD rep is coming in tomorrow to look at it and make a determination if they will replace the seal and retint the windows under warranty or not.
I will report back...............

Window tinting is not an abnormal thing to do and some dealers even do it so to say ford is not liable because you added tint is rediculous, the stupid regulators would have scratched glass over time. So, If you have had this problem, MAKE SOME NOISE so Ford Stops using this for future stangs and they come to a reasonable response on those it has happened to.

bygollie, this is America people, you can go to McDonalds and spill a hot coffee on your lap and sue the pants out of McDonalds. Makes sence then that something that has nothing to do with the way ford designed in the car should be their responsibility... :bang:
That's why I haven't tinted my windows. Every car I've tinted eventually developed scuffs/scratches on the drivers side glass. Would pay lots to have tint that is not a film, because it looks great and keeps the car cooler.
I have a lot of scratches on both driver and passenger windows. My tint guy is willing to re-tint for free but knows nothing about the felt. I need to find out where to buy the felt prior to having my tint redone. So, can someone please provide
info on where to order the felt?
Thanks in advance.

How did you put it on? Is it simply self-adhesive?
Did a google search on mo-skin. Nothing came up. I also check a couple tint supply
websites and nothing. Any idea where we can buy this product?
Thanks,

I had mine tinted about a month ago. The first time the passengers window was lowered, it scratched the tint. It is a significant scratch. The installer (not Ford) told me to go to Ford, have them fix the door, then bring it back to him for re-tinting. He also stated that Ford WILL pay for the repair. I haven't done it yet, just don't have the time.
Hey guys, I went out to a craft store and bought a couple sheets of felt that already had adhesive on one side. I cut 1.5 inch strips and stuck it on the inner seal just up to the top of the seal. No scratches and the felt is staying put.
yes just cut it to your window, Clean rubber with alcohol, slid the strip in to make sure its a perfect fit then slowly pull backing as you work your way across the door making sure to press as you go then your done..
...do a search for mo-hair they called the stuff I got mo-skin but I've never heard it called that before just call some tint shops in your area hope this helps

man my tint is all scratched up, seems to be getting worse as well.
I havent had the time to take it to the installer that the dealer used.
my dealer said they will pay for the repairs. but if they are going to scratch again I may not.

I decided to find the moleskin channel liner that is recommended to fix these problems. You can see it at this link:

Unfortunately it only comes in 100 ft rolls, I'm planning on buying 1 roll and was thinking about cutting it into 10 ft pieces. After I install it on mine I'll have 9 10 ft pieces left, I would sell 1 10 ft piece for $10 shipped to anyone who needs it. PM me if you're interested.

We talked about tint scratches at my tint shop. The funny thing is that he showed me the felt he intended to install. Of course, when he checked the seals, he decided he didn't NEED to use the felt, so he didn't install it.
Of course, the very first time I rolled the windows down (after the 3 day cure of course), I got huge scratches in my passenger window and minor scratches in the drivers window. I'm not too concerned about it as scratching is warranteed for 10 years. I just need to find the time to take it back and have him redo the tint. Only he gets to install that felt this time!
I think the reason he though the window guides didn't need flet was he didn't get his finger far enough down into the guide. The top portion of it is supper soft. But there is a hard plastic guide below that.
