It's about time. That magnet was almost useless. I wonder how hard it would be to swap it out for an '07 strap.

The '06's don't have the chrome end with the magnet in it.

Build Date 17 Aug 05...Must've been a good Wednesday for 06s because mine work perfect. They've never come off when they're not supposed to...

Mine was built Feb-06 so maybe they switched to the snap style mid run

Looks like there's no difference visually.
My build date was 2/28/05. Are you guys sure yours is a real "snap" and doesn't just look like a snap?

Mine is the same as yours. Later in 06 production they started making a snap and it looks like now nothing at all.

Oh yeah, You should dust your car....

I'll tell you why the passenger siede doesn't have it anymore- because someone stepped out of the rear seat of a mustang and did a face plant into the concrete after tripping on that strap. Really bad design.

Consider yourself lucky that you don't have the strap.

Here is some photos of the '07 strap. As you will notice it is a nylon type strap with plastic push snap.

other differences..

This is similar to that plastic trimpiece thingy that guides the rear seatbelt into the rear shelf area, which disappeared between 05 and 06 models. The 05 had the trimpiece and the 05 just has a slit in the carpeting.

Also, I noticed a difference between my 05 GT and my wife's 06 V6, which is the lever that you push to the left to open the hood, after pulling the hood release. The lever that you push to the left on my 05 GT has a yellow covering, while the same lever on the 06 V6 is plain metal, painted black. Just curious, do the 06 or 07 GTs still have the lever with the yellow covering? Or, is this just a GT vs. V6 thing?

Correct - I posted about this very same thing missing on my '07 a ways back....it's total bean counters trying to save a nickle per car. I'm going to see if I can get one as the passenger seat belt buckle bangs against the rear plastic quarter panel without it and no on rides in my backseat anyway....too small for most everyone.

I've personally seen this before - my 95 Mustang vert came with the cargo net and holders, underhood light, rear floor mats, etc., then my new '00GT Vert (even more expensive model with more options) didn't have any of these touches. I remember the interior lighting would come on with the unlock of the key FOB AND by pulling on the driver's door handle.....

No idea if the snap is cheaper or not, but I'd much rather have that instead of that useless magnet.

Let me know how you make out with this. I will be looking into adding one also. Screw passengers in the back seat, but a passenger in the passenger seat may let that belt whip back and cause some damage. We can't have that.

I don't know my build date but I bought my '06 on 9/6/05 and it has the magnetic keepers. It is amazing the little things that get changed year to year and sometimes even mid-year...

I remember when we bought my '92...... my best friend had a '90 GT and I drove it / rode in it all the time. When we purchased the '92 we wanted the driver's side airbag, and bought the car with that option. It was the 3rd day that we had the car that we noticed that there was NO tilt-steering...... any car with the airbag could not have tilt-steering too. Often times to this day does that annoy me.!
