Aftermarket stereo

So i have been looking at aftermarket stereos from crutchfield and the ones ive looked at says that i have 2 purchase a "PAC ford radio replacement interface". I dont know alot about stereos and i have no clue what that is....so i guess what im asking is anyone who has a aftermarket stereo did you have to buy this item to make the stereo work?

Yes, short answer.

Longer answer: They've done the work. "All" you'll have to do is plug it up to your radio, then plug it into the harness, and it will work 'out of the box.'

I say "All" because, invariably, there is always something that doesn't quite work out the right way... such is aftermarket.

If you were dead set against using the interface, then it falls to you to do the leg and brain work of figuring out what goes where, what does what, and wiring up completely seperately from the vehicle's wiring...

I'd be buyin' the thing so I can get done... but that's just me.

Like houtex said , it just plug and play with it. Otherwise you have to wire a voltage regulator for the speakers and run your own wire to dim the lights on the head unit and such ...
