aftermarket seats.....?

I can not stand the mustang seats, they provide no support during spirited driving, ugly as sin, look cheap, leather fab. is horrid.... the list can go on for days.

I am looking for some very nice black leather seats. Anyone have any pics of a mustang with nice seats installed?

Sorry to hear about your seats. I got almost 22K on my seats and they look brand new still. Why don't you just get a full Katzkin kit and have it insalled. They can make anything you want in any color you want, and it makes the car look killer. Just a thought.

Just a FYI, the mustang seats have leather inserts and that makes them slippery under spirited driving.

The answer to this would be that ford should have put alacantra as a option for the inserts. The alacantra keeps your butt planted, thats why you see it as an insert in other sports cars...

You have 3 options here. Buy some recaro seats as above, got to an upholstery shop and have them beef up the sides and replace the center with alecantra/suade, or buy some oem seats off a high end audi....

All options are expensive, However dont be fooled by copycat seats made of plastic that deformes under later g's and can also break....

I plan on having my two front seats recoverd and have the pasenger seat motorised....

As for looks, its a relative term... I think they look killer with the car and match its classic styling.

my main issue is with little support in the corners, so seat covers arent going to help here.

The seats linked above are a little above my budget. id like to stay under 1500 for 2 seats.

Go to the dealer and sit in a Bullitt or GT500. They have more support on the sides. If they meet your requirements you can buy the covers and foam from KC for around $600. You can then send me your take offs as a gift for suggesting an awesome mod.

have you tried looking at sparco's?? here's a link to their seat section: http://www.sparcousa.com/seats_street.asp

the torino 2 starts at $599/ea, which is not bad and i've heard nothing but good things about them.

Like I said before, You can co to an upholstery shop and have them beef up the sides with foam. So it would be more supportive. They then have to remake your seat covers as the stocker would not fit.

That should be doable for about 1500bux...

As for the gt500/bullit. I had no idea they are more supportive. I guess the next time im at my stealership ill sit in one of those.

I have a slight tear on the lower left side of the front seat, not sure why. I have ordered seat covers from Covercraft and plan on installing them this week. I have never had a problem with the comfort of the mustang seats, just the wearability.

What I'd like to know is if you go with an aftermarket seat like Sparco will you still have use of the power controls for the drivers seat?

I too, don't like the stocker seats for spirited driving. I rotate in my seat if I take a tight turn.

I would love to get some racing seats. Not only for the support, but for the weight savings.

I sat in some at the local Jegs shop, and one particularly caught my attention. It felt great, and wasn't terribly expensive. I need to find out how much they weigh though.

I think these are the ones I sat it: http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/755323/10002/-1/10509

My problem is that at 6'3" it's hard to find a seat that fits. They seem to be modelled around somebody who would fit comfortably in a 350Z...but what about these:

They come in XL!

Or better yet

Wow, those great covers are pretty cheap. $300 for the front seats with airbags, and real leather!

Anyone have the greatcovers seat covers? Got pics? (Passenger spilled or rubbed something corrosive to leather a few weeks ago and now I have two holes in an otherwise brand new leather seat...)

Take a ride to your local bone yard and see what they have. Maybe some corvette seats or and don't blast me for this one but I liked the seats that were in my acura tl when I had it. There are several other cars out there that had better seats than our GT's
