Aftermarket audio system

Well, I'm finally making some progress on the install. I installed a Scosche subwoofer, later will be changing it to a JL Audio 12w6. I built a wall behind the rear seat and installed the subwoofer amp. I still have to install the 4-channel amp for the MB Quart mids/tweeters, the Audio Control electronic crossover and the head unit.

That looks VERY good!! It could almost pass as stock, but I'm sure it sounds a lot better. Good job!

Nice job. Looks very neat and doesn't take up the whole trunk. Looks like it belongs there and I bet it sounds great!

Looks great
Any dimensions, instructions, etc for the wall you built? Looks like what I would want to do when I start installing my amps, etc.
Thanks

I have the same enclosure. It works nice, but the hardware they sent to attach it to the car was garbage. How the hell do you get a socket on that bolt in the top?! Exactly.

I agree, the hardware was a joke. I replaced the two top screws with allen head screws due to the ones that came with it would not tighten all the way. As for the bolt at the top, I replaced it with an allen head bolt also. It was the only way I could tighten it. A socket would not fit in there for nothing on the bolt that came with it. I'll make a drawing with the specifications for the wall and post it later.

Cool, I was going to ask for the bolt specs. I keep forgetting to take them out to replace. My Philips screws didn't go in all the way, either. Also, the little angle bracket is soft, but it doesn't need much. Mine may come out and get sold. I think I'm going to port a pair of 12's in the spare-tire well. We'll see if I can pull it off. Hopefully this goes better than my door woofer hunt

There will still be space to put the spare in on road trips and such. I'll carry a can of Fix-a-Flat. About 99% of the time, I'm within 10 miles of home in this car. Plus, I have AAA.

I installed the head unit today. I can't believe how much stuff you gotta remove just to access removing the radio. I searched everywhere to find a adapter for the antenna to the aftermarket radio to find out it was a Chrysler part. I never heard anyone mention this before and wondered if it was something they changed on the 07 Mustang. I know I had to remove the heating and air controls from the main panel also and it did not list this as needing to be done on my 05-06 Mustang assembly instructions. Oh well, it was a pain but well worth it. I can't believe how well this $35 EFX subwoofer sounds. I can't wait to hear it with a quality subwoofer like the Infinity Kappa Perfect or the JL Audio 12w6.

I had a couple more questions I was hoping you could answer on your amp wall and it's installation.
I cut out the pattern you posted and just need to cover it in some carpet and she will be ready to install.

Where & how did you attach the wall to the car? I am guessing self tapping screws to the marked areas. Use any rubber grommets to reduce vibration ?

The orientation is the notches down correct? I am having trouble getting mine to fit past the shock nut area. I have to actually pull the carpeting back (shown in the pictures)on the sides before it will fit, then I can't get the carpet back around the edges.
Do you have any more pictures of the trunk from different angles? Hopefully showing a view from inside the car with the seats down ?
I would really appreciate any additional info, tips or tricks.
Thanks.

The notches are on the bottom to clear the shock bolts. I had to pull back the liner. I put three self tapping screws in the top, one between each hole in the rear deck support. I then drilled a hold through the metal on the sides from inside the car and ran a self tapping screw through the metal into the wood pulling it tight agains the frame. I used no grommets. The board is carpeted on both sides to provide isolation from any vibration. I folded the liner at the board to make a clean line and used a interior fastener to attach it to the board and hold it flush to it.

Thanks ! That explains the troubles I was having. That was the only way I could see it working for me, but wanted to get some reassurance
I'll post some pics after it's all said and done.
Thanks again

Well, after much thought I decided to cut back on my stereo plans. I sold my MB Quart 5.25 component sets and decided against adding the second amplifier for now. I did order two pairs of MB Quart DKF168 6x8 coaxials though and will be running them off the Sony head unit. Age is taking it's toll on my hearing and 1200 watts would be a little overkill. I'll post up some reviews of the 6x8's when I they arrive. If they sound anything like the component sets I am sure I will be happy with them.

Decent choice of coaxes. I hope the tweets can be attenuated. MBQ tweets will pierce skin if left at full tilt. But they're quite accurate.
