2008 Have Built In Moleskin (tint Protector)

I just discovered this yesterday, but it wasn't utill today that I took some pictures of it. My 2008 Pony has built in moleskin, or window tint protector along the seal on the driver and passenger windows!

One less mod to do! I had already bought a moleskin kit to protect my window tint. Looks like I'll have to return it.......

Anyways, just an FYI. I'm not sure if the 2007 Mustangs had this?

most installers know about this now, and are putting it in. My installer says after you do one or two of them it only takes like 5 minutes. I need to go have mine redone with the moleskin i bought a year ago, LOL.

I wish my tint place woulda mentioned something. Kinda dissapointed they didn't. I bought the skin but haven't got around to installing it. My tint's already scratched. Kinda frustrating.

I understand as well the 2008's have this protection. We just done a 2007 GT CS in the shop this week and we had to install a felt kit for the owner.

Yeah, let me know. I'm not really sure if the tint shop did it or not. But, I don't think they did since I was in and out of there in an hour. I don't think they had time to do it.

Plus, it looks more like something that was done at the factory, then a later on mod. I also noticed that the window seal itself is a softer type of rubber then I had on my 05 V6. The one on the V6 was more of a hard plastic. And it was just starting to scratch the tint in that first 1/4 inch that the windows go up and down when you open or close the doors.

Is there a quick indicator that I have it or don't have it? I'm going to check here in a few minutes but I don't necessarily know exactly what this will look like. It's down in the door frame right?

Sure, roll down the window all the way. Then just peel back the inside rubber window seal and see as show in the pics above!

We need to get Kevin to check and see if these are available for retrofit and how much they cost.

I think I'm interested. Have you compared Ford's new velcro material with your moleskin? Are they exactly the same? If they're different, I'll definately be willing to buy it off you if you want to get rid of it... I've read enough stories about non-moleskin brand velcros coming off during summer heat..

Well, I got my kit from tintprotector.com, so as far as I know it's about the best out there. Here's the link.

http://www.tintprotector.com/

Actually the kit looks a little bit thicker then what's on my car which makes me think that mine came from the factory that way. It doesn't look after market you know?

PM me if interested......

OK, it's confirmed then! I didn't really think that the tint place did it. Looked too OEM to me.

Thanks for the info!

I'll have to check my build date. I bought mine in April and it doesn't have moleskin.
