Same here. After driving a new Fusion with Ambient Lighting, I REALLY like it.

 

Ever wonder how much these forums keep costing us there pal?

 

I wonder if this would be easier to retro fit into an 08 that didn't come with the option from the factory... I opened up my center console today (was replacing the HU) and noticed that I have some kind of harness socket wired in there with nothing connected... (This isn't the auto-trans harness which is actually in use in my car... for the auto trans) The socket is actually attached to the top of the center plastic, to the right of where the cup holders would be had I not pulled that top piece out (opposite the parking break.) (I hope that made sense to someone... I didn't take a picture..)

What I do NOT have is the extra "box" thing under my cup holders.. I wonder if the parts pictured in #2/#3 from this thread plug into this unused harness socket...

It would have been Great to Have Some Pics! To Make a Determination. You Might Also want to See if there are Any Plug ins Under the dash Where the Footwell Lights Go. Approx where your Left Knee would be When Driving.

I'm going to be pulling the console apart again this coming weekend (installing the bluetooth and sirius portions of the new HU) and will try to get photo's then. (It takes me a while to do this, as I cover everything with cloth and/or painters tape to try and prevent scratching up the plastic.) For the left knee, I'll go check now (if it's stopped raining.)...

I went ahead and finished the work on my new HU tonight, and got the promised pictures....

The area pictured is directly behind the shift lever with the top part of the center console (cup holders) removed. The harness socket shown is actually attached to the plastic console piece below it... I also included a shot trying to show the wire colors going into the socket.

Is this for the ambient lighting option (that I didn't get on my 08)?

 

bump - any word on if the above pictures show a socket related to the interior lighting?

I'm definitely interested in this! I was looking at the 08's but I got a better deal on a late model 07. I loved this feature on the 08's and want this for my 07. Money isn't really an issue for this. I have yet to open the spot where the shift lever is to see if I have the extra wires. My 07 was mad in June so I have the newer hood liner used on the 08's so who knows....

 

My mustang was produced 6-12-07 and when I opened the center counsel I had that same cord. I'll contact KC about it and see if I can order the counsel. I love trying things and troubleshooting them.

 

Let us know what the results are, I will most likely have the funds to do this over the summer.

These are the plugs on my 07 that are under the cup holder. I called KC to see about ordering the parts but he said that he has to still fiddle with them and that Ford was still correcting the miss-boxed issue. I wasn't gonna push. KC will let us all know if there is a solution to this. All I want is the lighted cup holder. I really don't care about the foot wells as I would have them at blue anyway like I have my dash. There is a post out there for the foot wells I will post it when I find it again.
