Question 2006 Shaker 500

I have a Cherry 2006 Mustang GT Convertible, red on red.
It has the Shaker 500 radio but I would like to have an audio jack. I know the 2006 does not have it, but I hear the 2007 does. Can I just get a used 2007 Mustang Shaker 500 radio and do the install. I like the factory look and would like to keep it clean that way. Can anyone help or offer suggestions?

I have a 2006 GT with Shaker 500. I picked up a used '08 head unit on ebay. Super simple to install. Everything was plug & play. Looks just like it did before.

What about the aux port? I want to install my old one from my 08 into my dads 06. But the aux port isn't just your typical aux cable. Its factory wiring. What did you do for that?

I didn't install wiring for the aux port. I'm sure it could be done though.

The installation to change from 2006 to 2009 is simple. However, trying to obtain the proper cable to install the aux cable to the center console could be a problem.
I have a shaker500 that I removed from my 2009 C/S when I updated to the oem navigation radio. If your still interested e-mail me.

So what did you gain by switching? Just curious.

Well, it's like this. I rented a Mustang while on vacation in Hawaii. It was a convertible and it had a setting on the menue call "Convertible". As I understood it, it set up the speakers to give the best sound with the top down. Since I had a 'Vert, I thought I would like to have this feature. Unfortunately, it seems this feature is kind of built into the amp system, not just the head unit. I ended up getting a few minor bells & whistles and a little nicer trim, but not what I was after. I was able to add Sirius satellite radio to this head unit and I don't know if that would have been possible with the '06 head unit. So, that's my story. At least I have a spare head unit in the attic if this one ever goes South. Not my smartest move ever.

Yeah that all makes sense. My dads black paint on the buttons are wearing away and he wants that fixed. He really wants an aux port but I Dont know how that would work. But at least the unit would clean the look up a little. Plus it has the chrome trim.
