I've only had my car for 2 days, but I realized today that my right knee is constantly rubbing up against the left side of the middle console. The hard, black plastic rubbed my knee raw all day yesterday. This could be a problem in the long-term.

Sure, I could make a conscious effort to not rest my knee there, but it's my natural, most comfortable seating position, and I would like to do something about it.

What could I do? I'm thinking maybe I should put some black cushiony material there or something, but I don't want it to look crappy. I also don't want my knee to bleed from the contact.

Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on a possible, nice-looking solution? Thanks.

Knee pads. You'll find them at The Sports Authority.

How tall are you? I'm 6'2 and don't have any problems with my knee hitting.

6'1"... I guess I sit with my legs more open than most? I don't know.

Updated picture!

See? I'm not alone! Although where they show that pad isn't where my knee is rubbing... My knee makes contact with the front edge of the console.

FAKE EDIT: Oh, I see that you can mount it anywhere... Maybe flush with the front edge would work. Wonder what else I could use that wouldn't be $25... Hmm...

Could you not just move the pad there???

I got one on order, got a few days ago. My knee rubs there too. I usually don't notice it except long trips. I'll give some feedback later.

<<<PRACTICING SELF CONTROL>>>

Never really noticed it. I am 6'2'' and mine doesn't bother me.

<<<LOST SELF CONTROL>>>

You are driving a 2005 GT Mustang. Most people would give their right leg to have one. And you're complaining about a little friction burn???

Sorry, couldn't help myself...

I think you've found a solution to your problem, although it looks like you might have the inside of your knee hitting the steering wheel. Good luck anyways.

No offence...Just for S#its and Giggles Man!

Might I suggest moving the seat back so your knee doesn't hit anymore?

It's all the way back. I wouldn't have posted this if it wasn't an issue with a non-obvious solution, duh. The fact that someone makes a pad for this exact area leads me to believe that I'm not the only one with this problem.

You could just try adapting and sit differently without spreading your legs so wide, its cheaper

It probably has to do with your heel angle. Try making your foot more vertical in relation to the gas/brake pedals rather than slanting it so much. Once you do this the angle at your knee should also be more vertical.

I got it, put it on place exactly like in the picture above, and it works great. Knee doesn't rub the 'impact area' just like in the picture. Even though it's not positioned over the impact area, it is thick enough to support the meaty part of my calve (sp?) muscle, so the bony part of my knee stays about a half inch away form the corner of the plastic.

In other words, works great, matches the black and tan colors of the enterior, and I didn't have to adjust my riding position to fit my car, but modifiy my car to fit me. Just drove 500+miles on it this weekend and pleased with the results.

I got mine yesterday after reading this post a while back. I had the same problem... raw spot on the outside of my right knee. Moving the seat back to adapt puts me too far from the steering wheel :nono:. This product works great! Thanks for the tip.

Yep, I got one too. Bit the bullet for the cost, but it looks and works great. No Knee problems and is comfortable. Don't even think about it being there. People look at the interior and don't notice. The shape makes it look like it's original equipment.

Glad it helped you guys. I'm 5'5", no need for me to get one of those. Now, if there was an easy way to get the clutch about an inch closer to the seat
